COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Fred Thompson, trailing Mike Huckabee and John McCain in the polls, will continue his presidential bid even if he finishes third in today's South Carolina primary, his campaign said.
Thompson, who had talked of South Carolina as his last stand, appeared this afternoon at a gun show in a suburban Shriners' auditorium -- a natural fit given his strong support of the Second Amendment right to own firearms. Several patrons wore "Fred '08" stickers on their clothing; as Thompson swept into the packed hall he was greeted by a modest round of applause.
"Go, Fred!" one woman shouted.
"How we doin'?" Thompson asked, greeting passers-by as he walked along the narrow aisles displaying hunting scopes and high-tech shotguns. He shook hands, paused for autographs, and posed for photos snapped on cell phones.

Actually, the transcript was from January 10th Hannity and Colmes. The 11th must have been the date Fox posted the transcript.

If all of his resources and all the time he spent campaigning in SC cant get him any higher than 3rd, then I would like to know exactly where he can win. The Fred Heads usually skip over this question. It's a very dynamic and fluid race. Fred is betting that his steady eddy campaign will win out in the end.
Do you remember his answer to one of those "fire in the belly" questions were he said "I don't do frenetic"?
He's the tortise going against a warren of rabbits. And remember the tortoise wins the race.

If they both drop out I'm dressing in drag and going to the Florida poll to proudly cast my vote for RUDY just to help stick it back to the social cons for trying to ram that phoney preacher down our throats.
One way or the other there's going tobe a cigar enthusiast in the WH...LMAO

Did she source someone from Fred's campaign BY NAME? If not, then I'd take even an announcement from the floor of Fred's campaign headquarters with a dose of salt. Could be that someone overheard Fred's campaign saying that instead of going straight to FL, he's going to do some other campaigning and go by to see his Mama, then move on to FL. Doesn't mean he's abandoning FL, but someone half listening might think so, and run to Fox with that notion.
Unless I hear Fred saying it himself, I don't automatically believe anything about his campaign that I read in the news.

Tennessee would or will be a dog-fight for Fred. I am not so sure about this article, but it states clearly Fred is staying in. I would never have thought he would have stayed in unless he placed second. My thinking was that he is tired of this ride and would jump off at the next stop.

It could prove at the end of the day that South Carolina is determinative as far as Im concerned, but were not there yet, What this says is that he hasn't made up his mind. He'll look at the results and then decide his next move.
If the results indicate it's still a fluid dynamic wide open race he'll stay in. IMO.

"He never said he was ever getting out."A fact lost on many.
But difference between having to do well and I'll quit if I don't win.

That doesn’t mean they endorsed him. Pluse, I haven’t seen a transcript yet. I’ve seen a few Romney people telling people to vote for Fred, just as a few Fred people told people to vote for Romney in Michigan.
The word “endorse”, is a well-known two-syllable word. Levin and Rush have national TV shows where they can say whatever they want.
If either of them wanted to say “I endorse Fred Thompson”, they could do so.
Since they have not, it seems disrespectful to pretend they have.
To: arturo
You only heard what you wanted to hear, and what you expected to hear, based on the MSM spin, and your own antipathy toward Fred.

That’s how I read it as well. There is a qualifier in there somewhere but what it is not real clear.
