This isn’t unusual—I believe we’ve reserved the right to do the same thing, use nukes in a first strike. It’s just unusual that they’re being so in-your-face about it...sounds like Pooty feels the need to rattle a few sabers, maybe for domestic consumption.

He wants to finish his tenure as Russian President with a big bang. Nuclear posturing and military parade in May. However, this should not be dismissed out of hand.

These guys are serious about their imperial project. Flush with their oil money, they are emboldened.

No, its worse. The commies had their religion of the “dialectic” and a certainty of victory as promised by their prophets Marx and Lenin.

So, the CCCP commies would push and probe, looking to bring “true communism” one step closer to reality. But they always were ready to cool down for a while and go low profile to avoid a potentially catastrophic showdown. Why push too hard when history is on your side?

This is’nt the Soviet Union any more. Its Russia, pure and simple, playing old school Euro power games. And that school did’nt teach backing off from a bad hand and waiting until later. Simple nationalism is a much less patient and long term goal oriented beast than communism.

Putin is goose stepping Russia straight back to the Iron Curtain.

Actually, I think Russia has moved toward German & Italian style fascism.

“but it’s a mistake to think that Putin isn’t a rational actor. It’s an act.”

yeah thats what they said about Hitler and look where that got us. if we take him lightly it will only embolden him further.

"To defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Russia and its allies, military forces will be used, including preventively, including with the use of nuclear weapons," Gen Baluyevsky said

Russia should send out a "White Paper" to declare who it's allies are. Are Iran and Syria at the top of the list?

I was thinking about the attack recorded in the Bible called the battle of Gog-Magog. An attack that mentions the people of the North (and north of Israel you’ll find Russia), in league with the Persians (Iranians) and Turkey, who basically go on a spree and wreck havoc. I’m wondering if an attack on Iran, which seems inevitable at this point, could spur an attack from Russia to protect it’s trading partner?

The Israeli's took out the Iraq reactor before the fuel rods were in place to minimize radiation spread to innocents int he bombing, and so if they repeat the process, they’ll have to hurry. If they do attack Iran, Iran isn’t just going to stand by and be humiliated. They’ll want revenge because they are stark raving mad.

How the fascists work ...

Putin needs a bogey man to remain dictator of Russia. Therefore as a good little communist, to keep the Russian people in a constant state of fear he must have an enemy, real or imaginary.

It’s exactly what the Democrats have been spouting about Bush for years. Democrats don’t see a real enemy, have tried for years to convince the public that the jihads are imaginary. But in the case of the fascist Democrats the REAL enemy is glow-bull warming, hence the constant fear mongering from them and the drive bys. The results desired by Democrats is the same as Putin, you lose your freedoms and remain in a constant state of fear.

Ignoring the Democrats true intentions with the glow-bull warming hoax is a huge mistake. If you haven’t done so already, get the book “State of Fear” by Micheal Cricjton to understand better what the Democrats game plan is.

How delusional for them to think that anyone would want their stupid country.

China may want the Siberian territories.

What’s interesting is that if your fallout shelter is dug into the ground (at least ten feet under) and contains a decent way to seal out contanminants, you could survive a near-miss from a 1 MT nuclear bomb (though ground zero has to be around 1.75 miles away) and live there safely for up to 2-3 weeks with enough consumables such a water and canned food. Mind you, those shelters now find better use as tornado shelters in the US Midwest.

Undoubtedly they are, and undoubtedly this is a message to Israel...

Siberia was occupied by China some 150 or so years ago. Yep, it could happen again. No one else is paying attention to:

China: Population per sq mile roughly 100+
Siberia: Population per sq mile roughly 2
