You have got to listen to this...”living breathing document..”
Mike Huckabee wants to rewrite the Constitution according to Mike.
Apparently he knows a lot more than the framers.
I think you're misfiring by jumping on that statement.
Now I have to track down exactly what changes he wants to make.
Is this different than amending the Constitution?
Not surprising. Huckabee is a socialist hiding behind the name Christian. He is the epitome of the religious left; the new way to push socialism.
I don’t think Huckabee understands the implications of the things that come out of his mouth.
the Hound must GO!
I knew there was a problem with Yuckabee. Now it appears he has a BIG PROBLEM!
Conservative???????? What a CROCK!
Ok- to explain why some folks will find his statement disquieting, this is another prominent person who likes the living, breathing document:
~~
A prominent endorsement of the Living Constitution was heard in the 2000 presidential campaign by the Democratic candidate, Al Gore:
I would look for justices of the Supreme Court who understand that our Constitution is a living and breathing document, that it was intended by our founders to be interpreted in the light of the constantly evolving experience of the American people.

It's time for it to exhale then.

You can go back over my posts regarding Huckabee and how much I hate him. I often call him Huckastupid.
But on this issue, I don’t see what he said that’s so wrong. Not that I prefer his approach over Fred’s — I don’t.
But all he’s saying is that he would support a couple of constitutional amendments.
What’s so earth-shattering about that?
Is there a left wing talking point this guy won’t use. I doubt it will make a difference to the followers of the “Cult of the ‘Bee”
Electing this man would be a Very Bad Thing.
I am coming to the conclusion that the man is just plain dumb. Definitely not ready for prime time.
If you are going to be an originalist or strict constructionist you need to look at the Constitution itself to see what the founding fathers envisioned for its amendment.
The constitution does not say “amend me rarely”, nor does it place any restrictions on the subject matter of its amendments. What the founding fathers did was establish an amendment system which requires a broad consensus (2/3 of house, 2/3 of senate, 3/4 of the state legislature, president has no say, thereby insuring that it will be amended infrequently.
History shows mixed results with some amendments good (abolition of slavery, voting rights)some not so good (income tax, direct election of senators). I’m referring only to post-Bill of Rights amendments.
In my view no one should be vilified for supporting an amendment using the Constitutional amendment process. However, the phrase “living, breathing document” refers to changing the clear meaning and intent of the Constitution by judicial activism (such as Roe v Wade)
I don’t have audio so I don’t know what Huckabee said or its context, but using that term shows naivete at the least.
There are sufficient reasons otherwise for conservatives to oppose Huckabee (I am an evangelical Christian who does not support him). There is no need to try to paint him as some wild eyed Theocrat
For a second I thought this was a re-has of the “God’s word” issue. These “Huck ups” are happening faster than we can keep track!
Huckabee sounds like he was advocating a theocracy. I will say this again and again: We do not want a theocracy in this country. A natural result of any theocracy is the implementation of an Unholy Inquisition. The theocrats may call it a holy inquisition, but there is nothing holy about it, it is just a naked power grab.
Where’s the “AWE Geez not this sh$% again guy”?
What’d the Huckster do, shake hands with Hitlery and get infected?
