LAURENS COUNTY, SC (WIS) - In the Upstate, a woman shot and killed a man who broke into her home. That's according to the Laurens County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies say the woman was getting home from work when she heard a noise in her bedroom. When she went to investigate, authorities say she saw a hand under her bed. That's when she grabbed a gun and started firing, eventually killing 23-year-old Richard Vanderford.
Deputies say Vanderford was a neighbor of the woman, but should not have been in her home.
Authorities are now trying to decide if any charges should be filed.

Sam says, better to be tried by twelve than carried by six!
Of course this is a no brainer. I’d shoot too!
Good to see you.

Charges? To hell with that give her a medal and some more ammo.

Authorities are now trying to decide if any charges should be filed. Charges? The authorities should chip in for new carpet and a bed.

Deputies say Vanderford was a neighbor of the woman, but should not have been in her home. Gosh, you think? Maybe he wanted to borrow a can of chopped tomatoes, and he was just waiting under the bed until she got home.

Ooops...wrong door...wrong bed. [/inappropriate humor]
Seriously, if charges are filed, the woman should be absolutely no billed at the grand jury. Alone in the home with her children, she should not expect anything toward from someone hiding under her bed. She should expect and respond to such a situation as if though in grave danger and her life was at stake...because it was.

Well, maybe she should have waited to see what the man’s intentions were before she started shooting. /sarc

Authorities are now trying to decide if any charges should be filed. It seems like a waste of taxpayers' money to file charges against a dead man.
