...You can hear it in Limbaughs voice and see it in his face. He badly wants to throw the full weight of conservatism behind that candidate. He so desperately wants to that his teeth probably hurt. Hes waiting, waiting for someone to take the lead. Get noticed. Hes waiting for someone to give him the go ahead to cream the opposition.
You can hear the excitement in Rushs voice when he talks about the South Carolina primary. Its The Passion. The passion of conservatism emerging when he talks about that primary. Why, you ask? Because, for the first time since the primaries have begun, conservative Republicans will be voting for fellow conservative Republicans...
...Rush Limbaugh believes in conservatism. Its engrained in his soul. He introduced me to it, and now its engrained in my soul. I can recognize it like a tick on a white dog. Its as obvious as that.
I recognize it in Senator Fred Thompson, and so does Rush Limbaugh. Hes hinted, hes implied, and hes even begged conservatives to see what he sees in Fred Thompson. He sees conservatism, the same kind of conservatism he saw in Ronald Reagan. He doesnt want long, bloated policy. He wants simple, effervescent conservatism for Americans to unfold before their very eyes...

Huckabee’s not my man, and what is wrong with being a good politician if you are a politician? Christians are only allowed to say good things about thier opponents in politics? That’s ridiculous.
I haven’t settled on a candidate yet, and I will support the GOP nominee, even if I don’t really like him, but the reason McCain is getting the traction he is getting is that he is clearly the most dedicated to National Defense and the War on Terror. This despite the aspect of National Defense dealing with illegal immigration. Even there, though, he says he supports building the wall. If we are not defended, the rest does not matter that much.
Other candidates must take up more strongly the mantle of defender of our shores if they want to steal McCain’s thunder.
Exactly. All I hear is Rush trying to steer conservatives away from what he deems are the least conservative candidates to the lesser of the evils who have a chance of winning in Nov.
It’s just wierd that the push poll is against Fred by Huckabee’s surrogate. I guess it’s payback for Fred going negative on Huckabee at the debate. Huckabee’s tough. Wish he’d go after his main opponent in the race in S. Carolina right now, McCain.
I can just hear Jesus telling him to "go negative". lol.
MittenBots have been instructed by their programmers to flood the talk shows with robocall style talking points .
I agree with your answer.
I noted that Fred also said that he would support the party’s nominee, Newt Gingrich also said he would support the GOP’s nominee.
I on the other won’t if the nominee ends up being McCain or Huckabee.
Those of us supporting Fred and therefore paying close attention to everything about this race will tell you Fred is not “running away” with the nomination at this time because the media is ignoring him as best they can.
I was wondering that yesterday, when a woman called, and i think she was complaining about Huckabee and pretty much endorsing Romney. After a bit though, she started to say “...then there’s Thompson, who I like except-”
Then WHAM! Rush diverted the subject entirely, and the woman never spoke again.
I am truly starting to wonder if he is avoiding talking about Fred as much as possible, to keep the media off of him. The MSM is expecting him to endorse sombody, and maybe backing Fred too soon would be chumming the waters.
I see where you would think Huck would go after McCain. Fred thinks it’s because Huck wants him to go after McCain so he doesn’t have to.
I on the other hand think the Hukster is more worried about a southerner beating him in the vote here and that is why he is going after Fred.
I agree with your post 116 .
I would add that I think Rush, along with many others , will accept Flip Romney if it’s the only way to stop McPain and the Huckster .
This scenario is a result of pure fear of McHuck and the delusion that Romney is somehow a better choice than the other RINO’s .
Um, JimRob isn’t just another ‘poster’, were you aware of that? :-) From now on direct all your comments about the chart to JIM ROBINSON in the “To:” block on your response.
MittenBots truly love Flip Romney , no doubt about it .
Romney is not a conservative in any sense of the word.
Are those crickets I hear or poor nckerr distantly crying in the corner?
Congrats on the lively thread, Route66. Some folks around here need to learn a few things:
Negative campaigning can work in some places, but I don’t think it works at FR. It simply hardens existing attitudes. FR posters tend to be much better informed than the general populace, we can make up our own minds, and we will.
No one gives a damn who you won’t vote for, and no one gives a damn that you might stay home on election day. Blackmail will not work. This idea that I should change my vote because you will otherwise not vote has zero effect on me, and is an insult to my duty to use my vote as I see fit for the good of my country. Your vote or non-vote is no more important than mine, and cannot be used as a cudgel to change my vote. I will vote however I please regardless of tantrums and threasts.
Who you WILL vote for may have an effect on others. Among informed yet undecided voters (FR), positive support for a candidate can have an effect.
My 2 cents.
