Huckabee: Anybody with IQ above Broccoli, knows I am a Conservative

Charleston, SC-

Last night at the Citadel, the historic southern military school located here in Charleston, GOP presidential aspirant Mike Huckabee positioned himself in defense battle mode, warning the crowd of 400 supporters about the barrage of attacks from his enemy entities, like the Club for Growth, that are questioning his conservative credentials. Huckabee defended his record.

“Folks, I don’t know what you are going to hear, about that I’m not a conservative, but when you cut taxes, and you increase the per capita income, you improved the schools, and you rebuild the roads, and you preserve the national resources, and you streamline government, your government grows at a rate that is half that of the average of all states,” Huckabee said, his voice rising. “Call it anything you want to, but anybody with an I.Q. above broccoli calls that conservative, rock-solid, kind of leadership.”

<>Rintense: Anybody who fries squirrel in a popcorn popper has an IQ lower than broccoli.

Drat, ya beat me to it.

There's got to be a picture somewhere of Huckabee wearing bib overalls.

I guess the obvious answer is my IQ is below Broccli. That’s okay. I am happy here.

No, we leave the weather prognostications to Albore.

Bush and Rove had the hurricane machine only.

“Yep, they’ve bought his smooth lies. Have you?”

First of all, you make a statement as fact, then attack on the basis of your “fact.” No one has ever REALLY proved Huckabee to be a liar. (and please don’t post a long littany of quotes, etc. that are getting really old...I don’t read them, nor does anyone else).

What is the rub here on FR is that many define “conservative” differently than the average voter.

To the average Jack and Jill, someone who is staunchly pro-life, against the homosexual agenda, and a strong gun rights advocate, that is being conservative. Being populist in views towards big business is not seen by that Jack and Jill as liberal. The old perception of the GOP being the party of fat cats doesn’t resonate with Jack and Jill. When Huckabee says he reminds you of the guy you work with instead of the guy that laid you off...that is something most can relate to. Protecting the average Jack and Jill is seen by them as conservative.

Some call this identity politics or class warfare...Jack and Jill call it reality.

You CAN be big government, pro-illegal, soft on crime like Huckabee and be a Christian soicalist liberal.

We'll have to agree to disagree, here. You can not advocate breaking the law and stealing; two central issues in the illegal issue, and be living a life based on the tenants in the Bible. Also, instances where justice was meeted out in the Bible did not reflect a "soft" attitude towards the law-breaker.

Giving and charity allows man to lead a more Christ-like life. When it becomes forced, through taxation and confiscation, it is no longer charity. The welfare state that Christian liberals are proponents of is decidedly un-Christ-like.

Those are just a few of the ways that "Christian liberals" do not espouse themselves in a Biblical way. Now, works do nothing to get one into Heaven, thank God, or I would be in heap big trouble. They can be Christians through salvation, but they are definitely un-Christ-like in their works; Huckabee included.

Once again, that's just my opinion.

“Thursday, January 17, 2008 The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Mike Huckabee on top in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. It’s Huckabee 23%, John McCain 20%, Mitt Romney 18%, Fred Thompson 12%, and Rudy Giuliani 11%. Ron Paul attracts 2% support (see recent daily numbers).”

National numbers? Great move up by Romney!

“Huckabee defended his record” .... By LYING about it.

Huck’s soft-on-crime tax-and-spend ethically-challenged pro-amnesty record is NOT conservative, and to pretend it is is like pretending a gastric-bypass is a rigorous exercise program!

“It is embarrassing. GWB may have some faults but he sure has never thrown the insults around like Huckabee when GWB has been attacked viciously by the MSM, the DNC, democrats and others for 7 years. If elected POTUS, Huckabee would melt down and lash out at everyone on all sides. Pathetic man.”

GWB is a class act.

Romney in action, he’s a class act.

Thompson too is a class act.

McInsane is a good man, but with thin skin and a bad temper. Watch out.

Huckabee the Huckster is a class clown. His insults and ‘jokes’ are infantile and unpresidential and he has a problem with admitting the truth. He’d be an embarrassment as a candidate and won’t be President or VP (not matter what McInsane promised him).

Wow, this guy is a nut case. He has now surpassed McCain as another the number one nutjob for President.

No small feat.

Romney in action, he’s a class act.

DUDE, what planet are you living on?

Ted Kennedy: I just suckered a Republican into signing a tyrannical bill forcing taxpayers to buy Planned Parenthood run health care and pay for $50 abortions. The sucker vetoed parts of the bill which I don't care about, but left the innocent baby killing in. I am a great evil democrat. (Evil sly grin)

Not only does Romney have a horrible liberal record, Romney is a weak candidate (extremely high negatives) inflated by two temporary factors: 1) huge amount of money spent in early states 2) two early primaries with geographical ties—won’t last.

47% of voters will definitely not vote for Slick Mitt (same number as Hidlebeast):
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/mitt_romney_match_ups/election_2008_romney_vs_clinton_and_obama

Romney has spent a ton of money trying to suddenly 'rebrand’ himself a conservative in two or three months. While the democrats have done a good job sticking to an optimistic/hopeful message (history has shown this is effective), Romney is lowering the Republican party to the gutter through spending a fortune on mischaracterization ads. Romney is not a class act.
