As of January 1, 2008 Environment Canada analysis indicates sea ice cover over the Northern Hemisphere has recovered to near normal extent. However, much of the thick multi-year ice in the eastern and even central Arctic Ocean has been depleted and replaced with thinner more newly formed first year ice

Of course the ice would be thinner because of recent depletion. The point is it is reforming and recovering PAST THE PREVIOUS PAST FEW YEARS! It is January, and the ice will continue to thicken for months. The MSM trumpeted the decline of the sea ice last summer, with drowning polar bears, and unhappy eskimos. Where is the same MSM this winter when temps are returning to more 'normal' ranges, and the sea ice reforms to more 'normal' size?

Yes, well most climate forecasters predict that cold weather will start to abate in only a few months and then a noticeable warming trend will occur.

I actually prefer the new, thinner ice to the older, fat ice. Let’s hear it for thin ice!

So what are they saying, that the ice-cover FLUCTUATES?

That can’t be!

These things are set at absolutely correct values and should NEVER CHANGE! Ever! Just like the WEATHER! Totally unchanging, just like the weather!

Anything else is obviously GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE!!!

(Passionate enough for you?)

So, what ever happened to that idiot guy who sailed his yacht up to the Arctic Ocean to raise “awareness” of Global Warming, got stuck in the ice, and had to call the Russkis for help? Is his yacht still up there, stuck in the ice?

Gee, on the radio just this morning I heard another eco “expert” commenting on the starving/drowining polar bears. Of course no one ever asks for the peer reviewed source material.

He actually had to load his boat on a russian cargo ship to break through the ice so he could get back to England. I don’t suppose anyone will be trying that again for awhile given the ice has returned.

Thanks for the link! That is an excellent resource to look back as far as 1980 and see things are not what the Branch Algorians claim. Who you going to believe, Saint Al, or your lying eyes?

Thanks for the link.

When you reset the date to Jan ‘07, the two pictures of the ice pack are almost exactly the same.
