I escaped the land of Sun, grapefruit oranges, cockroaches and old folks driving around in circles. I vow never to return!

Of course there is a squirrel that likes to make guest appearances in a tree in my backyard... I have a friend who'd like to try some fresh squirrel herself!

Black Squirrels in Council Bluffs — we get some of them here too, but not often

When I was little had one that lived in an old cottonwood tree on the Omaha side, called him Crunchie

Check this out from Wiki

“Squirrels are often the cause of electricity outages. The animals will enter transformers or capacitors looking for food. The squirrels are then electrocuted and cause a short circuit that shuts down equipment. Squirrels have brought down the high-tech NASDAQ stock market twice and were responsible for a spate of power outages at the University of Alabama. They will often chew on tree branches to sharpen their teeth but cannot tell the difference between a tree branch and a live power line. Rubber plates (squirrel guards) are sometimes used to prevent access to these facilities.
Squirrels were responsible for 177 power outages in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1980, “

It really looks like Rush has dismissed Fred, his show is now the Romney, Huckabee, McCain show. It really bothers me, and I have e-mailed Rush repeatedly, that if he wants conservatism to win, he needs to show who is actually talking conservatism, and thats Fred. For him to dismiss Fred, he dismisses the same conservatism he whines that we don’t see enough of. I just don’t know if its due to unknowing, or if its calculated. I am confused with Rush.

I just heard on the news blurb that Fred is a distant 4th place in South Carolina! :(

Oh no. I hope they're wrong. Waiting for Rasmussen.

Huckabee—“Folks, I don’t know what you are going to hear, about that I’m not a conservative, but when you cut taxes, and you increase the per capita income, you improved the schools, and you rebuild the roads, and you preserve the national resources, and you streamline government, your government grows at a rate that is half that of the average of all states,” Huckabee said, his voice rising. “Call it anything you want to, but anybody with an I.Q. above broccoli calls that conservative, rock-solid, kind of leadership.”

Post-lunch remarks:

This is a conclusion I came to while on my way in to work today. It relates to an issue that I am dealing with locally. A group that I belong to has a problem. Well, it has many problems, but one in particular: The leader. Many members of the group want to take the group in a certain direction, but the head of the group is refusing. This leaves the members a few choices. Succumb to the leader, vote him out or leave the group. Whatever is done, either the leader has to go or we have to go, because any other solution that leaves this leader in charge will not solve the problem. I write this because I relate this to our current election cycle. I believe that more of our focus should be switched to looking at who is running in the House and the Senate, because our real problem is Congress. If a Democrat gets elected President, we are in for a world of hurt if our Congress remains the same make-up. If a Republican get elected President, I don’t see much changing as far as getting our problems solved if the Congress remains the same make-up. Now, I still see it necessary for us to elect a Republican, but if we do not get a favorable Congressional make-up, we need to take action.

While listening to Rush in the car at lunch, my mind started to wander again and I came up with the following solution. We need to remain within the Republican party, BUT we need to field Congressional candidates in EVERY state in 2010 who PLEDGE to follow a certain agenda, a national agenda. If we can get a block of Congressman elected who would vote as a united team, we can possibly FINALLY see some big reforms. I mean, if the Gang of 14 was able to do what it did, imagine what we could do if we were able elect a large block of responsible American citizens who would not compromise on one main theme: Taking back the power that we have given to the Fed Gov. If there was a reason to ever use a theme from the liberals, this would be it. We will take back the power from the politicians and redistribute to the true owners of that power; The American people.

Any other solution may get us small gains here and there, but it leaves in place the real problem; the ineffective, backstabbing leaders in Congress.

We can call it the American Political Revolution.

Perhaps the FredHeads are being screened out.

Remember that Rush's #1 criteria is that a caller has to be interesting and makes the host look good. Maybe the Fred callers, if they are calling in, don't fit in today. Besides, Rush's show is about his political commentary, not advocacy ads for candidates. I wish he would endorse Fred, but he won't for any primary candidate. I've accepted that as fact.

Of course, it could be that the Fred callers are calling voters in SC and other states to shore up needed support... ;)

When my, now college aged, boy was about two, he and the neighbor toddler were playing in the front yard in South Louisiana. I was at work and my wife called me and could barely get her story out for the laughter.

It seems a squirrel crossed the transformer, or started to. The transformer exploded, sending two little boys running in circles and screaming in panic. My wife reported that it took several minutes to catch him and many more to calm him down. When I came home hours later, he was still a bit pale and talking about “big boom! big boom!”

Anybody have Rush’s new e-mail address? I’m going to send a “What about Fred” reminder.

Thanks.

The Niagara Falls area have grey, black and red squirrels. They don’t have white ones, you have to go to Olney, IL for those.
