Today's our Warm Fuzzy Wednesday thread, and reading the poem above that I got in my email last week made me think of my own grandma and warm fuzzy memories of visits to their farm in the hill country when I was a little girl.

Grandma’s Hands Lyrics
Artist:Bill Withers
Grandma’s hands
Clapped in church on Sunday morning
Grandma’s hands
Played a tambourine so well
Grandma’s hands
Used to issue out a warning
She’d say, “Billy don’t you run so fast
Might fall on a piece of glass
“Might be snakes there in that grass”
Grandma’s hands
Grandma’s hands
Soothed a local unwed mother
Grandma’s hands
Used to ache sometimes and swell
Grandma’s hands
Used to lift her face and tell her, she’d say,
“Baby, Grandma understands
That you really love that man
Put yourself in Jesus hands”
Grandma’s hands
Grandma’s hands
Used to hand me piece of candy
Grandma’s hands
Picked me up each time I fell
Grandma’s hands
Boy, they really came in handy
She’d say, “Matty don’ you whip that boy
What you want to spank him for?
He didn’ drop no apple core”
But I don’t have Grandma anymore
If I get to Heaven I’ll look for
Grandma’s hands

READ: 1 Corinthians 10:3111:1
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
What on earth are you doing?! You may have heard that phrase when your mom told you to clean your room and found you playing with your toys instead, or maybe when your teacher caught you passing notes in class.
But if God were to ask you this question, how would you respond?
Paul tells us that as followers of Jesus we have been put on this earth to bring glory to God in everything we do. So what should that look like?
Gods glory is the manifestation of all that He is in His unsurpassed, stunning perfection. It is His amazing love, His wide mercy, His deep grace. His glory is seen in His truth, justice, wisdom, and power. To glorify Him means that we have the high privilege of showing Him off in a world that is totally unaware of what He is really like. Acts of mercy to the undeserving, grace to the needy, forgiveness to an offender, living wisely according to His willall give glorious visibility to the character and quality of our God.
There are a lot of misconceptions floating around about God. Its our job to let others see what He is really like. And, when they like what they see, lets be sure to let them know who taught us to live like that. Its not a good idea to steal Gods glory!
Thanks for Grandma’s Hands, Billie.
Lotsa warm memories.
LOL :)
This is so beautiful Billie! I love this story/poem . :)
Happy W&F
Have been out of town AND had company over the past week. Missed everyone!
I sure am late in checking in but “things happened”. At lunch, warning of bad weather coming tomorrow and Friday so I went to the grocery store. Just needed a few things and everyone knows how that is!!
I loved “Grandma’s Hands”....brought a tear or two. My mom had short stubby fingers and used to hate her hands and always added “these hands have done an awful lot of hard work”. And they had done that for sure. I was fortunate that I got my dad’s hands, longer fingers and have always been able to grow long nails. Red Hat lady asked me one day “Are those your real nails?” I like to paint my nails also and usually keep them painted (BUT I DO A LOT OF HARD WORK)!
I wear gloves of course because if I don’t my fingers get splits in them and hurt very bad!
Loved your thread and the Pledge is so pretty...thank you, Billie~~~~
