McCain's Bad Economics

Posted on 01/16/2008 7:18:40 AM PST by maui_hawaii

I am a Mitt guy-with that being said I have no problems with Thompson at all.

Prior to this last primary my pecking order went something like this: Mitt, Fred (which are interchangeable in the case of necessity), and if I was forced McCain.

There would be no hope for Huckabee. I will not vote for him period.

McCain though just dropped off my list and I will explain why.

McCain is part of the problem in Washington, not the solution. It has been the likes of him and those congressmen like him who are too big of a ____________ to fight for what is good for America.

McCain has been briefed one too many times on 'the global economy'. His 'truth' isnt truth at all.

Now full disclosure... I have been involved in international business for about over a decade. I was in China before China was hot.

I am fluent in Chinese.

I own a company and one that covers multiple countries particularly in Asia. I have been in one dozen countries on business trips over the last 5 months.

I would not want a give up artist like McCain spouting his lies and the give up mentality regarding economic issues. Policy wonks who spout things like that need be chased out of Washington.

Yes, the global economy is here, but that dumb **** doesn't have the foggiest how to compete in it.

Everyone else is supposed to get an education except a damn Senator.

We really need to shake the holy **** out of Washington DC and run those punks out of town.

Does it mean we throw up a moat around America? No, but it means we have to be a pitbull and fight.

That numbnuts believes everyone should be retrained and go to school and learn and relearn...but for a job that doesn't exist. And won't exist. There is no guarantee that those new economy jobs will come to the USA.

I can't stand GW Bush for this same idiot mentality.

Education is great but education alone means nothing. You will wind up with a group of Phd's that can't find work.

There are fundamental problems with the way the US economy is being run. There is surely a problem with the way we are approaching globalization.

That give-upism is why McCain sucks. You have too many moronic people in Washington teaching that crap and too many people believing it. It is standard fare in some circles in Washington DC and that is utter garbage.

Politically, you are correct. Relistically, he told the truth. They aren’t coming back to Michigan and part of the problem was is the $50.00+ per hour burdened UAW labor.

This is my hot button issue and I will challenge any one of those dumb SOBs on open public turf to defend themselves.

There are a whole lot of people like me and many who are even way better than me... who know more about China than all of Congress combined.

But you know what? They ignore them. Either won't let them testify or flat out deny them.

I believe the researched used to come to many of these conclusions is incomplete at best, very unbalanced, and inaccurate.

Essentially we have a bunch of policy wonks who created a policy that says the equivalent of 'the internet is the new wave. it will create all the jobs we could ever need in America'...

But when reality hits they go 'oops! sorry.'

The fact is, there are people who know its BS beforehand but there are those who are too thick headed to listen or even give them a fair hearing.

Why are they this way? Because it would mean we have to change stuff, and they don't like to change things until they are forced to change it.

...to demean a man who spent 5 years in a POW box the way you have tells us a lot about you. I wont repeat your expletives, but you are lower than excrement.

I agree it's a poor title to the thread. I am very thankful for his service to our country (as I am of yours, sir!), and acknowledging the hell he went through in Viet Nam is something we must honor and never forget. That being said, his politics and the way he has evolved as a national leader leave a great deal to be desired.

He can be in the military all he wants and for that it is commendable, but he doesn't know jack about the economy.

Being good at some point in the military and having done what he had to do does not give him instant credibility on issues like this.

I think McInsane's jump-the-shark moment came in Michigan when he told the auto workers that "these jobs aren't coming back".

Thats an awful thing to say to them. There are better ways to uplift someone; such as tell them to stop voting dem and think outside the box as far as state business goes.

How about “McCain A Democrat in Republican clothing”? or “McPain Part of the problem in DC and NOT the solution”.

Everyone will read this and think that you are having a mental breakdown. This reads as though you are having personal business problems and need to blame someone....just an observation.

From where I sit it barely looks as though there are any competing views on the matter

If you dress up to go to party...and everyone is dressed differently from you...then maybe YOU are the one that got it wrong.
But I know nothing about global markets so I can't argue with you.

Relistically, he told the truth.

Realistically he is---well I won't say lying--- I will say ignorant.

Being a war hero doesn't make one an economist.

He and many other congressmen have bought into that psuedo science that lacks even balanced research.

OPtimism....... ah shucks, he looks reaganesque.

I agree! I have also decided that should McCain be the party choice I will stay home and not vote.

You're not alone. I've encountered others who, if necessary, will deliver dishonor to our country, and our brave armed forces, by helping to elect a DEM surrender monkey. When Al Qaida and America haters all over the world are gloating, you can take comfort that you stuck it to the RINO from AZ.

Let me get this straight. You are saying he was ignorant when he said those jobs wont be returning to Michigan? If you believe those high paying automobile production jobs will be coming back to Michigan, then you have been out on the Maui beaches in the sun too long. Politically, he may have been wrong in telling the truth, but it was still the truth.

McCain is the economic equivalent of a Frenchman. Except Frenchmen will fight more.

I was in China before China was hot.

Yeah, the slave labor over there is really great, isn't it? Can't wait until American companies let me live on a cot in the factory.

In the context of what was being discussed, if they closed down all of the entire auto industry and McCain would think its just part of the natural plan.

Do things change? Yes. They will always change. We are not looking to rewind to 1950 but we are looking to 2020 and his surrender monkey crap doesn't fly to get to either one.

2020 is coming either way---whether we have an auto industry or any other industry or not.
