Unfortunately, this particular wage of sin (unlike AIDS, by and large) will rapidly spread to the population at large.

AIDS can be prevented by not performing sodomy or having random sex.

A staph infection can be picked up from a doorknob.

I know. Ive been a medical transcriptionist for 15 years and am very aware of MRSA. Type it daily. It’s nothing new, but is getting a lot of publicity lately.

Aids was a mostly voluntary disease acquired through behavioral choices. Staph infections are something else.

I read that 90,000 + people die from staph infections (excluding this new superbug) picked up in American hospitals each year. More than die from auto accidents or gunshots.

Amazing how many people are willing to take a chance on illness or death over sex.

That’s what bothers me: The contagion is being driven by a certain vector, but is not dependent on the same vector. A societal behavior risks an entire population, not just the subculture it comes from.

Why is it we must be tolerant of this, again? It is getting harder and harder to explain...
