Preemptive move to save anything he can from sure-to-come lawsuits.
$180 Million in liabilities? With a 2003 Honda and $250K house? Something ain’t right here.

I can’t say that I am an expert on the case that felled the poor fish, but people in power with race cards secreted about their sleeves deserve what they get when they play them.

$5K per month public pension. Pretty sweet. Wish I could retire on the public dime to that tune.

Perhaps Nifong was confusing himself with the OJ Simpson jury. IAC, it couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.

Just a guess but ,I would say he is listing the contingent , disputed , and unliquidated claims that may be filed against him .

$5K per month public pension All he should be left is the amount allowed by federal guidelines for the poverty level...and that would be too kind.
As terrible as this whole thing was, hopefully it will serve as a warning to other scum prosecutors and others in such power positions.

Logical, but I just don’t see how this (non-current possible intangibles and possible future liabilities) can be claimed on current Chapter 7 filing.

If he were sued by the players and had a judgment against him... would they be able to tap into part of his pension payments?
To: CutePuppy
Logical, but I just dont see how this (non-current possible intangibles and possible future liabilities) can be claimed on current Chapter 7 filing. They can be. They are current claims based on torts committed in the past. So the claim exists. It just hasn't been finally adjudicated.
In fact, if the bankruptcy judge wants, he can try the claims in his court. I have tried ordinary contract claims before a bankruptcy judge.
