Let’s see now, PETA raises approximately $30 million annually, and the Humane Society of the U.S $119 million. Then there are dozens of other AR organizations raising millions.

The people most likely to send these frauds money believe they are somehow addressing/solving the animal population problem.

These organizations don’t spay/neuter/feed or house (except in rare “token” cases, usually high profile ones where animals are props to raise more money) animals.

That kind of money could finance free spay/neuter clinics nationwide.Especially considering how local animal shelters are struggling to keep their doors open, depending on donations from folks. Of course so many of these well-meaning donors send their money to the big AR organizations, sucking it right away from where it is needed, in the local shelters.

This is the BIG story, the one that people concerned about animal overpopulation need to be emphasizing.

I agree, it is the work of the local AR organizations, doing the most important work in the trenches really is where it is at, not the large national AR. I belong to a local AR organization. What I would like to see is both working together and the larger organizations helping out the smaller ones in the area of spay/neuter efforts. =^..^=
