GREENVILLE, S.C. --A newspaper in the heart of South Carolina's conservative Upstate region has endorsed John McCain in the Jan. 19 GOP primary.
In an editorial published Sunday, The Greenville News cited the Arizona senator's experience with foreign affairs and willingness to work with Democrats to get things.
"He understands military strategy and has personal characteristics that would earn him automatic respect from the men and women who wear this country's uniform," the newspaper said in its endorsement.
The newspaper said former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney "is an attractive choice for his accomplishments in the business world," but that McCain wins out on foreign policy experience.
McCain also won the endorsement of The State newspaper in Columbia.

These Papers were once locally owned. Looks like the endorsements reflect the opinion of the Media General and Cox Newspapers (part of the MSM?) That leaves only the locally owned Charleston Post and Courier. I believe it will probably endorse Mitt Romney. "The Staate Payper" is now a proxy for the "Charlotte Observer".

I live in Greenville and find the newspaper to be a complete joke. It’s stories are bland and poorly written. It will endorse candidates the most liberal it can without alienating a large amount of subscribers. Just about everyone in Greenville laughs at the local paper.

Media General is very liberal in their editorial comments; they don’t like the war; they love the NEA; they even had the nerve to change the comic strips to the very liberal ones.
General Media can take jump.......
The liberal ownership pushes Mc Cain; guess why?

Exactly. MSM and Democrats are pushing for McCain - the angry, nasty old man. BTW, The Washington Times had an excellent editorial on January 14 pointing to McCain’s shameful record.
