Senator McCain told reporters this morning that he would vote yes on California Proposition 22, the so-called knight Initiative, which is on the California ballot on March 7.
...McCain said he would "vote yes" on the measure if he was a California voter, adding that "this is consistent with my psoition in opposition to same-sex marriage."

Then he opposed the Bush Marriage Amendment.
What???
BTW, the links are for info purposes only. I do not personally care for the HRC or the LCR.
McCain needs to go.
Was there a flip-flop/pandering going on then because he was trying to appeal to the right and take votes away from Bush?
McCain helped campaign for the man+women=marriage ballot initiative in Arizona. It barely failed. He’s weak on social issues but I think he’s pretty much on the right side though not enthusiastic.
I agree. Vote wise McCain has supported social conservative issues. Not a vocal supporter, but I still buy that he just misunderstood it.
Well this should skyrocket his ACU rating. Can’t wait to read about later this fall, just to see how conservative this is ranked. Bwahahahahaha...

McCain’s becoming more of a Flipper than Mitt.
McCain is mentally confused.
All things being even. I guess I’d rather be more mentally confused than anything else.
I think that McCain supports civil unions. It has almost been the cornerstone of his gang of 14 agenda. It was all designed to give cover to some of the Republican Senators who are under pressure from some of the gay rights groups. At least one of those Senators is no longer serving in the Senate.
Don’t be trying to confuse old John McKerry
MCCain opposes the Federal Marriage Amendment
Log Cabiners were overjoyed with his opposition.

“McCain joined Senators Specter, John Sununu (R-NH), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), Lincoln Chafee (R-RI), Judd Gregg (R-NH), and Susan Collins (R-ME) in opposing today’s procedural motion and the amendment itself. “ “Log Cabin applauds all those Republicans who stood up against the amendment. “
in his vanity fair article he said he does not care about the issue. IOW he outright supports homosexual marriage.
“Hes weak on social issues”
Santorum interview last week made that very clear.
He votes okay but he never wanted the social issues gets pushed, always opposed carrying the ball forward. So he really would be happy to see the socons just go away and stop bothering his HIghness ... “Okay I’ll build the d(&*&d fence and stop those gay marriages you bigots!”
That actually makes sense, at least for a states rights supporter, like Thompson. McCain supported a similar state ban in Arizona that failed. He opposed a federal plan, which would intrude into a matter that is best left to states.
I don’t typically support McCain’s liberal views on certain issues such as immigration , but this seems pretty solid. Am I misunderstanding something, or are constitutionally-based state rights no longer supported by the Republicans?
And it is entirely reasonable that he misheard the original question in the town hall. There are better grounds to hit him on than this, in my humble opinion.
I think McCain supports state Constitutional Amendements but opposes Federal Constitutional Amendment.
Sounds legit until you see that the left wing uses the courts to try to throw out the 10th Amendment that allow the states to decide.
On this issue and all social issues there are only two Republican candidates that can be trusted -- Huckabee and Thompson.
