Ex-Butler: Diana's Mom Called Her 'Whore' for Dating Muslim Men
LONDON — Princess Diana's former butler testified Monday that the princess' mother had called her a "whore" and criticized her for her associations with Muslim men.
At a coroner's inquest into Diana's death, Paul Burrell testified that Diana's mother, the late Frances Shand-Kydd, had destroyed much of Diana's private papers. Shand-Kydd had said she destroyed about 100 documents, but Burrell said he carried away half a dozen trash bags filled with shredded paper.
He said he didn't dare challenge the mother. "Mrs. Shand-Kydd was quite formidable ... and she did what she thought best."
Burrell said Diana had invited him to listen to a telephone conversation with her mother, who upbraided her daughter in June 1997 for romances with Muslims. That was before her romance with Fayed.
Burrell said he heard the mother say that Diana was "a whore and that she was (expletive deleted) around with Muslim men."
"She said some very nasty things," Burrell said.
Burrell also said there might be a secret about the late princess in a journal he kept but was unwilling to disclose. He later said there was no journal, he never kept one.
He was also reluctant to say which member of the royal family told Diana she should beware of surveillance, but he did write the name and passed the note to the coroner, Lord Justice Scott Baker. Baker looked at it, and said it had no relevance to the proceeding.
In an increasingly surreal day, Baker said the surveillance warning did not come from Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip or Sarah, Duchess of York. Burrell's note was given to a court official for safekeeping, and not disclosed.

I am curious to what the Muslim men called her. I am sure it was angelic and honorable.
Most if not all of Diana’s insecurities and emotional problems which ended up being exacerbated by her marriage started with the behavior of her mother and father. Diana’s mother was in no position to get on her high horse with respect to anything her daughter was doing. To her credit, Diana’s mother supposedly tried to keep her from marrying Prince Charles, as she saw all the pitfalls ahead for Diana.
I’m sure her boyfriend’s mother said the same thing about her.

At any rate, I attribute the American media's fascination with Diana to the fact that they view the USA along the same lines. A plutocracy, with liberals being "the royals" and everyone else beneath them. It's just with the British, it's not make-believe.
It's tragic about what happened with this generation of royals. Yet looking at the mess Charles had become it's tough to judge Diana too harshly. He reminds me of the king's son in braveheart, sans a "boy Friday" fop at his side. He's got Camilla instead, which might possibly be illegal in some states here across the Atlantic. I mean, Charle's greatest ambition in life was to become her tampon. What's worse is that he succeeded brilliantly.
It's no small wonder that Queen Elizabeth has lived for so long and is likely to live several more decades. She's waiting for Charles to die off and pass the crown onto her grandchildren.
Be patient ... Queen Victoria lived well into her 90's and the Queen Mother was over 100. The Queen and Prince Charles may be around for many more years.
