Hillary Plays the Race Card

Posted on 01/14/2008 9:24:20 AM PST by disraeligears

Hillary is obviously playing the race card. This was clear on the day before the New Hampshire primary when she made the remark about it taking LBJ to get it "done" regarding the 1964 Civil Rights Act. This was a not so subtle dig at Obama . . . and it is obvious that her campaign strategists knew this comment would tick off the democratic party's black constituents.

Thus, when the inevitable "blow black" came, the Clinton's (true to form) would defend themselves by exclaiming "that's not what we are talking about, how can you dare allege that we are bringing race into this after ALL we've done for civil rights and African-Americans, gee whiz, Bill is the first black president don'tcha know . . ."

Meanwhile, race is indeed injected into this (and was done so repeatedly by Clinton's surreogates)....

The Clintons hope that there exists enough redneck democrats who will not vote for an African-American, expecially when race is brought to the forefront; even though Obama is hands down the better person, and potential president than that witch, Hillary Clinton.

What Hillary doesn't care about is that if she does win the nomination after pulling this crap, African-Americans WILL stay home in droves this Fall. Thus, if Hillary wins the nomination through this strategy (which she played in New Hampshire and will do so throughout the primary season.... hell, she started it with Sheehan's statement about youthful drug use), she will undoubtedly lose the general unless she runs against Huckabee.

(She'll beat Huckabee because Republicans will stay home en masse if that jerk wins the nomination via a plurality of socially liberal envangelicals, abortion notwithstanding)....

Although I am a staunch conservative, and would benefit by Clinton's low-rent politics against Obama, I HATE what Hillary is doing because it will set back race relations in this country by 20 years or more.

Thus, I hope Obama kicks her ass and the Republican nominee (hopefully FDT) beats him in the Fall on the issues, without the race card being played by either Republicans or Democrats in the general.

Fred has way too much class to bring up race against Barack Obama. He’ll just point out his inexperience and other flaws that disqualify him from the presidency. I am roughly Obama’s age and have more high-level foreign policy and intelligence experience, and you don’t see me running for the White House. I’ll bet there are many FReepers more qualified for high office than Barry. Buckhead would be just one example.

Why in the world does Hildebeest think that “red-neck Democrats” would vote for HER instead? Does she think Red-neck Dems are her target market?

What a maroon.

She conveniently forgets Illinois Republican Senator Everett Dirksen and others. We certainly wouldn't want any Republicans to get credit.

I do wish folks would stop calling this woman "Hillary".

If it's "Thompson" or "McCain" or "Romney" why not "Clinton"?

I agree - Dirksen is the guy who worked his ass off to “get it done.”

I’m still waiting for some Clinton supporter somewhere to tell us specifically what it was that Bil did for blacks. No one has ever been able to answer that question.

Won't matter - the left NEEDS it to be a race issue, so they'll cry about "code words". Obama's opponent will be painted as a racist no matter what. There will be a concerted effort to "shame" people into voting for him. Things will be said like "there are those racists that won't vote for a black man".
