Public 'threatened' by private-firearms ownership
Los Angeles Times. ^ | January 14, 2008 | WND

Since "unrestricted' private ownership of guns clearly threatens the public safety, the 2nd Amendment can be interpreted to allow a variety of gun restrictions, according to the Bush administration.

The argument was delivered by U.S. Solicitor General Paul D. Clement in a brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in the ongoing arguments over the legality of a District of Columbia ban on handguns in homes, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.

Clement suggested that gun rights are limited and subject to "reasonable regulation" and said all federal limits on guns should be upheld.

I'm now convinced that Bush is trying to leave office with the lowest approval ratings of any president in history.

I can see the speeches now... “I was the first President in history to achieve a negative percentage approval rating!”

And gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I don’t think this should come as much of a surprise; after all, Bush said he’d sign the AWB if it were reauthorized by Congress. This man is not a friend to gun owners.

If there actually is a brain in there, it must run Windows. I think the logon password is "Para Ingles, aprima dos".

Don't need to read more. Actually the complete opposite is true.

Maybe when they say "public" they mean "public sector". The bureaucrats may well have reason to feel threatened by private ownership of guns.

Just as long as he hurry's up and leaves. I am so sick of this guy. Sadly, I am more sick of him at this stage than I was of Klinton. We knew Klinton was the enemy from the git go. It took us a few years to see Bush's true RINO colors. I regret I did not back someone else in 2000 RINO cycle. This time, we know we only have Thompson and Hunter. The others are KNOWN RINOs. I think I am just ready for the Good Lord to end all this and bring us home. This place sickens me.

Only well-trained responsible federal agents and police need guns.

“reasonable” restrictions: IMNSHO..

if you have to rent a second storage unit just for your guns, you may have too many.

if its too big to haul behind your F350 duallie.. it may be too big.

if you need mechanical assistance to lift your handgun, the capacity my be too high.

but those should be common sense rules, not laws. :)

I just wish the morons who refused to listen to us about Bush would now listen to us about Rudy McRomney. They seem determined to saddle us with the most socialist “Republican” they can cram down our throats.

Precisely what is this undefiend so-called threat?
Will we go back to the days of pre-1962 when blood was running in the streets, bodies in the gutters? People cowering in their basements whilst gunfire ruled the streets?
Oops—that’s today’s big cities with their Narco-Hiiiisssspanic drug gangs (and a disarmed populace).
