It’s infinitely more telling that Giuliani wouldn’t or couldn’t face the criticism of the pro-lifers. Additionally, he wussed out on the rest of the supporters at the event. How would you feel about taking the time on your weekend to get yourself to a candidates’ campaign stop early enough to be allowed access and be processed through security, only to have the candidate stiff you?
And stiff you because of an issue he doesn’t want to address. He didn’t even try. Sounds like he didn’t even want to try, he didn’t wait until the shouting stopped or even make a move to be a candidate for the people who showed up there.
Very, very telling about Rudy.
All that plays very well into the hands of the MSM, don’t you think? Which was my initial point exactly.
The MSM may even spin it as Rudy had to leave because there was a security threat-—you know, from those “anti-abortion extremists.”
I am all for protesting candidates-—but in a way and at a time that makes sense and is not likely to backfire. All this event might possibly do is feed stories that are sympathetic to the independent voters who only know the pro-life movement as a collection of kooks.
Since this is politics and the media, Rudy may in fact get more mileage out of having refused to engage the “kooks” (not my word, of course). Thus, instead of being some big victory for the pro-life movement, all it may end up doing is strengthening Rudy for another day.
