This is social gospel liberalism, not just pro-life. or a Christian attitude. It is part of his campaigning. He is using the Christian faith to get votes, which is itself merchandising the gospel

Huckabee plan would give aid to illegal aliens

Huckabee said it’s “terribly unjust”for a child who arrived in Arkansas at a young age and graduated from high school to be denied state-funded college scholarships because of a “a status that he had no control over.” “Do we want to change the future for these kids? Then let’s give them the opportunity. Let’s not say that our doors are open but our opportunities are closed,”Huckabee said Tuesday in his State of the State Address to the General Assembly.
The governor never used the words “illegal alien”in his speech but referred to high school graduates’ “status,”which confused some lawmakers. “We think he’s talking about illegal aliens, but we don’t know,”said Sen. Dave Bisbee, a Republican who said he opposed the idea.
Huckabee’s spokesman, Rex Nelson, confirmed that Huckabee, also a Republican, was referring to illegal aliens. (snip)
Consider the following:
“ let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.” Romans 13:1,2. ...”Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but for conscience sake.” Romans 13:5
“Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king , as supreme; or unto governors...I Peter 2:13,14.
People with their children who are in this country illegally violate the law. That law, unlike the one child policy of China, requires no man to sin. Disobeying it is both illegal and sin. Staying in this country illegally is continuing in unrepentant sin which leads the unrepentant sinner and his children who walk in it to damnation (hell). 18 year olds of college age are morally responsible.
Mr. Huckabee as a magistrate had a responsibility to enforce the law, also the federal immigration law. This is particularly the case as one who professes to be a Christian in that office - He also must be in subjection for conscience sake. His actions in this regard were sin. His “this is terribly unjust” is false. His actions were unjust.
But consider further - What is his calling as one who also is a minister of the gospel, and who claims to still be one? Show me where he called these unrepentant sinners and their families to repent of their sins and forsake them!. In state tuition for illegals, encourages a continuation in illegality - in sin.
Consider further: The Apostle Paul’s statement, after speaking of repentance and faith in his preaching, “I am pure from the blood of all men.’ acts 20:26. His reference is to Ezekiel 33:8,9 in its context. The point is, if one who is an minister of the gospel does not warn unrepentant sinners of their sin and lets them continue in it to their destruction, God will count that minister as a murder of souls! He will do so in the day of judgment. Where has Huckabee publicly repented of his sin? Frankly, the man walks to his own spiritual hurt not just that of others.
4. Now the same issues could be applied to his pardons of murders, by which he violated the biblical duty of his office, his subverting of parental home schooling, taxes, use of tax payer moneys for personal perks.
These are all issues of public record and conduct while in office. They are Christian doctrinal and Biblical issues not simply political. Keep in mind that in this race for office he is virtually promoting himself as "the Christian" candidate. Pointing them out is not slander. Now, please read II Peter 2 and the epistle of Jude.
So what? (You've consigned Huckabee to hell?)
