Fred Thompson, John McCain’s best hope for splitting the conservative vote, and getting the nomination.

Fred has clearly explained why folks should support him instead of Huckabee. However, Fred needs to do the same thing concerning McCain. It’s just not my point of view, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, National Review and many others agree. In every major conservative battle that has been engaged in the congress, McCain has not only been found to be siding with the enemy, but has actually led the charge against us. Fred needs to ask the good people of South Carolina how many more McCain defections are the willing to take. He needs to ask them on what next great Conservative cause do they want to find McCain leading the charge against us.

The Detroit Free Press reported this morning that Thompson is at 6% in the national polls. The cumulation of polls in South Carolina has him at 9% (Real Clear Politics), well behind McCain and Huckabee. In Michigan, he is running at 5%, behind Ron Paul.

My guess is that after he loses big in South Carolina, Thompson will pull out (remember, he told Hannity he is making his stand at South Carolina). Then we can all congratulate him for putting up a good one-state fight. We can also take solace in the knowledge that he would have made a very conservative president, even if he didn't have a clue on how to get there.

It is particularly important to understand, with full clarity, the last two sentences of this memo.
        Further, the winner of a contest is not decided when only 5% of it has been played. As it stands currently, thirty-four(34) states will hold Presidential primaries or caucuses on or before February 5, with twenty-four(24) of these contests to be held on February 5. I, nor anyone else, will have an educated position until after the February 9, 2008 conclusion of the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington DC. Sept. 9, 2007: FlAttorney says: I and “South Florida Attorneys for Fred (SFAF)” are greatly pleased that Fred Thompson finally agreed to run for 2008 President of the United States of America. Fred did not want to run, no more than I or many of my colleagues and friends want anything to do with Federal politics. But the George Soros Shadow Party(“SSP”), using the National Democratic Party as their front-operation(“D-SSP”), have become extremely powerful and very dangerous. They threaten the principles and very fiber of our great Country. I can’t express how dangerous these worthless maggots have become in the last five years.
        As the D-SSP has become more powerful, the National Republican Party(“GOP”) has significantly lost focus, lost credibility with the general public, and splintered into various in-fighting factions. It is a very serious problem and it will be a major uphill battle to win the 2008 Presidential election. The Republican Party must go back to our roots, re-solidify our core base, and run an individual for President that the public can believe in. More importantly, a candidate that I, my business colleagues, long-term GOP associates, and friends can believe in. In my opinion, and many other Republicans’ opinion, the Bush Administration has become a disgrace. The increasing number of Republican U.S. Congress members that have become a Republican in Name Only(“RINO”) is disgusting and reprehensible.
        This is the reason many of us “GOP insiders”, of which I have 20+ years political experience, were on our knees begging Fred Thompson to run for President. The main Republican Presidential candidates, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Mike Huckabee, and others, are spineless politics as usual losers and cannot beat Hillary Clinton and the Democrats-Soros Shadow Party machine. I, SFAF, and a major GOP PAC (which will remain nameless), that my Houston attorney brother and I are executive committee members, believe with the proper support that Fred Thompson can beat Hillary and her Fascists parasites party. However, there are many variables and unknowns at this juncture. Frankly, it will take four or five months of very hard work before a clearer position can be delineated from the campaign process.
        However I will state this, Fred Thompson is not going to run the same old “politics as usual” Presidential campaign, or be dictated how to run his campaign by politics as usual political strategists, or by the mindless and ignorant main stream media(“MSM”). The reasons are simple. Fred’s approach and positions are what’s required for the GOP to re-establish creditability with the American public and that we deserve to retain control of the Country’s Federal Executive branch come November 2008. Fred’s style of campaign is what’s required by the major fundraisers for his 2008 Presidential bid.
        As Fred stated, when he made the decision to run for President, if he loses the Republican Party nomination, or the Presidential election, because he stuck to his convictions and principles...so be it. I/we support his statement 100%.

Wed., 09.05.07: At 7:57 p.m. ET while taping "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", for broadcast
later that evening, Fred Thompson finally said: "I'm running for President of the United States."
The studio audience responded with thunderous applause.

Huckabee was a much easier target for Fred than McCain, one of his buddies in the senate, and somebody Fred supported on McCain-Feingold. I imagine it would be hard to attack McCain also since Fred is part of the same Washington crowd, part of the same group of failed Republicans who squandered the momentum from the 1994 revolution. Perhaps most significantly, as long-time senate peers, McCain knows things about Thompson that others may not, and that is why Fred was afraid of going after McCain.

Rush Limbaugh talked about last night’s debate. Fred, being the winner, took up a good portion of his talk.

Here’s some of the transcript:

THOMPSON: Governor Huckabee’s campaign manager said it accurately in terms of what they believe. They believe that it is over. This is a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party and its future. On the one hand, you have a Reagan revolution; you have the Reagan coalition of limited government, and strong national security. On the other hand, you have the direction that Governor Huckabee would take us in. He would be a Christian leader, but he would also bring about liberal economic policies, liberal foreign policies.

RUSH: And, you know, now, this was unique. This has not happened to date in Republican debates with a Republican calling another Republican a liberal. And this is why Fred was considered to be on fire. He continued.

THOMPSON: He believes we have an arrogant foreign policy in the tradition of blame-America first. He believes that Guantanamo should be closed down and those enemy combatants brought here to the United States to find their way into the court system eventually. He believes in taxpayer funded programs for illegals, as he did in Arkansas. He has the endorsement of the National Education Association, and the NEA said it was because of his opposition to vouchers. He said he would sign a bill that banned smoking nationwide. So much for federalism, so much for state’s rights, so much for individual rights. That’s not the model of the Reagan coalition. That’s the model of the Democratic Party.

RUSH: Where has this been? Everybody is asking, “Where has this been,” besides on this program? Where has this been in the context of the Republican debates? When I got home from dinner last night and started checking e-mail both from friends and just others, it was just shy of orgasmic — there was so much excitement and happiness, and people were also frustrated, where’s this been? Fred’s finally come alive. This is an annunciation of the conservative agenda that has not been present in their debates before, and everybody has known, a lot of people have known it’s there. It just hasn’t surfaced. So now, because of Fred’s stellar performance last night — I should say Senator Thompson’s stellar performance, guess what’s happening? It’s predictable. The Drive-Bys, media commentators, the pundits who ought to be so ashamed of blowing New Hampshire as badly as they did, they shouldn’t be able to show their face, they suffer no embarrassment whatsoever, they are saying it’s too little, too late. We had two states. We had the Hawkeye Cauci; we’ve had New Hampshire. We had two states. It’s too late? Fred doesn’t have a chance? Just wait ’til we get to these states where there are full-fledged conservative Republicans, not like New Hampshire, where McCain won the election with Democrats and independents. Mitt Romney got a majority of the Republican vote in New Hampshire. But the Republicans, in a Republican primary, were outnumbered by Democrats and independents.

The latest polls out are results taken BEFORE the debate this past Thursday. So, lots of changes are coming! This is just beginning and SC is only the fourth state to vote, along with Navada next Saturday. Sure there will be another debate this coming week for Fred to shine through again as the real conservative in this race! I wouldn’t count on Fred being out by any means! Listen to this interview.
