Sir Edmund Hillary, the lanky New Zealand mountaineer and explorer who with Tenzing Norgay, his Sherpa guide, won worldwide acclaim in 1953 by becoming the first to scale the 29,035-foot summit of Mount Everest, the worlds tallest peak, has died, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark announced Friday in Wellington.
He was 88.

Perhaps, from the beginning, she was baby IT, until a suitable name could be found.
Let us see how long it takes the PIAPS to even acknowledge his death. My guess...three maybe four days. Then again, maybe never.

I’m no climber but after watching the Everest-climbing show on
Discovery Channel for the past two seasons...the sherpas make Everest
possible for a lot of folks.
