Conservatives don’t seem to realize how important “likability” is in a candidate.
People don’t seem to like Mitt or even Fred as much as they like Huckabee or McCain. This has nothing to do with political positions . . it is just personality.

The unpleasant truth - but the truth nonetheless - is that presidential contests are popularity contests as much as contests based on substance.
The good-looking, good-natured guy with nothing more than generalities often beats the guy who may not be as telegenic, but who has ideas.
The "youth factor" cannot be ignored, either.
I wish it weren't so. But it is.
