Thompson stands tall at six-foot-five (or taller), and it appears that slumbering giant has awoken. Perhaps it's because he's campaigning among his fellow southerners. Or perhaps it is because of the positive reviews he received from last nights debate. Or perhaps it is just because its crunch time.
No matter what it is, Thompson is showing some spark. I am delivering the message that I am the consistent conservative, and I am making my stand in South Carolina! he said today at a campaign stop in the Palmetto State.
-snip-
Thompson then kicked up the dirt on the argument that he is the lone true conservative in the race. This is a discussion and a fight, really, about the heart and soul of the Republican Party.
Thompson was animated -- lively even -- as he would say, a little bit smug after the debate. Last night we got a chance to discuss some important things... I got a chance to make some distinctions, and I didn't try to jump on anybody. We had in New Hampshire the other day a little discussion with Mitt Romney concerning his health-care plan and the mandates he had in it. And we've discussed with Rudy his sanctuary cities in New York and things like that. Last night, it was Gov. Huckabee's turn... We disagreed with John McCain about his immigration bill last year.

D’oh — I just added you to the keywords instead of pinging you. :) Anyway, ping!
I just wish he'd work a little harder, campaign more.
No-one gets to be president by sitting back and taking it easy.
Give em hell Fred!
Wow!! I’m a keyword!! :)
Fred had a very good day, and all this press will do him good. Only problem is, tomorrow is a new day and then today is yesterday.
Agree. Everyone complains about the “is it too late?” spin of the MSM. But in reality, if he did in the early debates what he did last night, he would be the front runner now. Time will tell about his timing...
Looking at the polls, it appears McCain is ahead in Michigan, SC, and Florida. I think we have until SC, next Saturday, about one week, to take out McCain. Otherwise it might be too late. My God, it shouldn’t be that hard... he’s a freakin’ liberal! Has everyone forgotten why we hate this guy? Open borders. Against tax cuts. Against conservative judges. CFR (you never hear him mention that one, do you, because it turned out so well). Climate change. Even on the war, he’s backstabbed the President too many times to count. Somebody needs to Swiftboat this guy, that is, tell the truth about his liberal record.
Fred HAS to win in SoCarolina. Its his chance to get positive momentum and if not, to be relegated to the dust heap. Romney is less concerned about SoCarolina, but has to win Michigan.
IMHO, Fred Thompson has had a strategy all along...get in at the right time, pace yourself, and then peak at just the right time.
I also have another IMHO and that’s this: when Fred gets the nomination - and if nothing else changes - he’ll have Duncan Hunter as his running mate. That conversation has already been had.
Semper Fi,
Well kiddo, you’ve arrived:)
Wow...even the MSM is noticing.
MSNBC must have gone off its liberal meds for this one.
Hunter needs to drop out and endorse Fred now.
There is nothing to be gained for this nation at this point for him to stay in a race he cannot even come close to winning. He needs to back Fred ASAP, he is the only other true conservative in the race and Fred can win this thing.
Blah blah blah. Just sayin’. Bask in it today, move on tomorrow. No more debates before SC, I’m told.
Showing some spark???
Anyone have a picture of a nuclear explosion to pictorially convey how Fred is showing some spark?
So what’s the deal on this really big endorsement Fred was supposed to get today? I haven’t heard a peep.
Or overdosed on them perhaps? ; )
