We will agree to disagree about local control. In the south (including that southernmost suburb of New York, South Florida) property taxes are lower because police/fire/schools are at the COUNTY level. While I doubt that regionalization would help in New Jersey, the REAL reason why our property taxes are so high are these little fiefdoms called townships, cities and boroughs. I'd prefer having everything at the county level and all these REDUNDENT local township/borough/city employees given pink slips.
