I’m expecting Pete Carroll to take that Atlanta Falcons job.

Time for Pete Carroll to go back to the NFL, otherwise he might have to clean up his own mess at USC. And you KNOW a “real man” never cleans up his own messes in a big time college program.

I thought Pete would stay at USC, but you never know. This story is getting legs....at least on Yahoo.

Hopefully he goes to D.C.

It's amazing how obsessed college coaches are with the NFL.

From what I remember of his tenure at The Pats and Jets he wasn't exactly Vince Lombardi.

Why would he want to leave the perfect atmosphere, for him at least, in order to take over that horrible NFL team?

Because he’s in Compton. Not that the ATL or DC is any better.

Pete didn’t do that well in the NFL.

And Bill Belichick wasn’t that great in his 1st HC job in Cleveland. I’m guessing the New England fans are happy the Pats didn’t take your advice there as well.

He’ll leave because he doesn’t want to have to clean up the mess he fostered. If the NCAA comes down on USC, he wont’ be able to “not notice” that his players are driving around in luxury cars with their families living in million dollar houses, even though he recruited them in the projects. He’ll have to deal with fewer scholarships, tighter restrictions, etc... Much easier to leave than deal with that.

It’s pretty obvious what is happening if you live around a big college football program. There is no attempt by the kids to hide it.

The story is continuing. The NCAA interviewed three people this week as part of the investigation.

As am alumnus of USC I hope nothing happens to them penalty wise. Of course I hope Carroll stays at USC. Money is not an object in that USC will match any pay he gets at Atlanta.

Which is why the NCAA is so damn hypocritical in worrying about what Reggie Bush and his parents my have done to get a few bucks from agents. Coaches get paid millions and seem to have the all the loyalty of a sewer rat to their teams and fans. The schools themselves would step on their own grandmother to get the tens of millions that come from major bowl games, but the kids who actually go onto the field each week to preform are supposed be pristine when there are blizzards of cash blowing all around them.

I'd love them to stop the damn charade and just declare the Div 1 schools to be semi-professional and stop playing the student-athleate fraud. Just be honest and admit that the NCAA is nothing but the NFLs farm system and go from there.

Neither did Bill Belichick...at first. :-)

USC is not in Compton...although the neighborhood it IS in isn't much better.

You've got that right. The way I see it, the majority of college football players (at least in the major football programs) aren't students who have the chance to play football -- they're football players who have the chance to go to school.

For some, that privilege is obsolete since they'll be making millions in the future anyways. Many others take advantage of that privilege and earn degrees. And others, well, don't.

Nothing is going to happen to USC. If the NCAA tries to do anything, USC will sue them into oblivion.
