Sir Edmund Hillary has passed way at 88 years young New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark has announced. Sir Edmund has been in frail heath for a few year. He is survived by his wife Lady June and children Peter and Sarah.
1953: British Expedition and FIRST SUMMIT. Led by Colonel John Hunt and consisting of climbers Dr. R.C. Evans, G. Band, T. Bourdillon, A. Gregory, Edmund Hillary, W.G. Lowe, C. Noyce, M.P. Ward, M. Westmacott, and C.G. Wylie. Returning as Sirdar from the Swiss attempts is yet again Tenzing Norgay. The route through the Icefall is completed by April 22, Camp VI is established at the foot of the Lhotse face at 23,000 feet (7000 meters), and after a lengthy delay, the South Col is reached via the Lhotse Face route pioneered by the Swiss the year before. May 26: First Assault by Evans and Bourdillon from the South Col using closed-circuit oxygen sets. The same day Hunt leads a party of Sherpas from the South Col with the intent to establish Camp IX on the SE Ridge for the second assault party consisting of Hillary and Tenzing. Evans and Bourdillon reach the South Summit at 1 PM at an elevation of 28,750 feet (8770 meters), but are forced to descend due to the lateness of the hour, strong winds, and lack of oxygen. May 29: Second Assault by Hillary and Tenzing using open-circuit oxygen sets. They leave Camp IX at approximately 27,900 feet (8500 meters) by 6:30 AM, and reach the S. Summit by 9 AM. After negotiating the 40 foot (12 meter) Hillary Step, they are the first to reach the summit of Everest, reaching the top at 11:30 AM. After descending to the South Col, they are met by George Lowe where Hillary states: "Well, George, we knocked the bastard off!" |
My condolences.
Not the original headline.
Wasn’t Hillary named after him? ;)
Is this the guy that Hillary said she was named after?
Normally I complain about headlines being changed, but i will make an exception in this case! :)
My personal favorite of the endless, truly endless Hillary Clinton lies: She asserts that she was named in honor of Sir Edmund Hillary.
Young Edmund Hillary was a totally unknown New Zealand bee keeper at the time that we were cursed with Hillarys birth. Yet NO ONE IN THE MEDIA will ever call Hillary on this, or any other of her preposterous lies!
So she claimed, but as always is the case, Hillary is a liar.

NOTE: the survival of our Republic is threatened by two things -- fundamentalist Islamic terrorists and Hillary Rodham Clinton. President Bush is leading the fight against the terrorists. It is up to those of us who know the real Hillary Clinton to lead the fight against her. We must shine the light of truth on this dangerous woman so that all Americans may know the real Hillary.
#8 in the continuing series.
(The following appeared in both INSIGHT MAGAZINE and NATIONAL REVIEW)
Why the name Hillary? Did her parents just like that name? Was there an aunt or grandma named Hillary? Not according to Hillary Clinton.
Most people know that the first conqueror of Mt. Everest was Sir Edmund Hillary. During an Asian tour in 1996, Hillary Clinton paid visits to Australia and New Zealand.
Our Hillary proudly told reporters that her parents named her for New Zealand's favorite son, Sir Edmund Hillary. Apparently, Hillary Rodham's parents must have been psychics. Sir Edmund Hillary was a beekeeper in New Zealand and, although he had been involved in mountain climbing before Mt. Everest, he really was pretty much unknown outside of New Zealand. The problem that our former First Lady must explain is how she was named for the adventurer whose Everest climb was in 1953. Hillary Rodham was born in 1947. Whoops!
It is, of course, not a big lie, but it certainly is indicative of Hillary Clinton's aversion to the truth. She can tell lies, she can commit perjury, she can hide billing records because she has not been made to pay the price. Until she does, the lies will continue, some of which will be very detrimental to this nation.

“guy that Hillary said she was named after?”
yup, even though she was born 6 years before he became famous.
(Good Lord, the mods have deleted a bunch of stuff. WTF?)
She was named after him before he climbed anything.
