CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - A 20-year-old pregnant Marine who was expected to testify about something she witnessed on base has been missing since mid-December, authorities said.
The Marine Corps said Wednesday it is cooperating fully with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office in the disappearance of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who is about eight months pregnant.
The sheriff's office has said Lauterbach's mother reported that her daughter was supposed to testify about an on-base incident.
"There are several findings and pieces of evidence that have been discovered that cause law enforcement to be concerned with the circumstances surrounding Maria's disappearance," the sheriff's department said in a statement.
Sheriff's investigators did not return calls seeking additional comment Wednesday, and it was not clear what Lauterbach was expected to say in testimony.

Put aside the pregnancy - how can you have liars in there? Also why a MALE roommate? Is the marines that supposedly raped her the same one that got her pregnant or don’t they know who got her pregnant?

I know that when I first joined back in 1980, it was a struggle to overcome the stereotype of the sort of women who had previously enlisted, but those days, thankfully are long gone, at least in the Air branches. That’s where I try to steer any women asking me about a military career.
I truly believe that women can and do make solid contributions to ALL of the armed forces and deserve respect. That said, if there are women who are behaving in ways that make a negative impact on discipline and morale, they should be kicked out on their butts. Of course, that goes for the guys too. Takes two to tango.....

Others have mentioned something that is puzzling me as well. Why do the Marines have mixed living situations? Who the heck thought that was a good idea? Must have been a Clinton appointee.

Sheriff: Missing Pregnant Marine Is Dead, Corporal She Accused of Raping Her Named Suspect
The body of Maria Lauterbach, who vanished nearly a month ago before she was to testify in a military probe, is believed to be located in a shallow grave in coastal Onslow County, said Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown at a press conference.
Lauterbach alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a senior officer but that the investigation had gone sour, according to court documents. Authorities do not know where the suspect — Cpl. Cesar Armando Lauren, 21, is located.
“They don’t know where he is,” Brown said. “He’s gone.”

Shame they have not posted his photo - but he has three attorneys since December 20th!!!!! Would not speak to the Sheriff and military could not force him to cooperate...constitutionally protected.
I wondered the same thing. Not sure if this was on or off post. Just doesn’t make sense, unless it was a suite situation where they only shared a bathroom or something. Still...... yuk!
