TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran on Thursday aired its own video of an incident in the Strait of Hormuz with US warships, in a bid to counter Pentagon accusations that the Iranians warned they could blow up the American vessels.
The four-minute video broadcast by Iran's English-language channel Press-TV showed an Iranian commander in a speedboat contacting an American sailor via radio, asking him to identify the US vessels and state their purpose.

OOh, well, glad they cleared that up, I just knew our guys were wrong
I’m getting tired of this BS...
Anyone know what the international rules are on buffer zones around war ships? In other words, at what distance can a war ship fire on an approaching threat?
They need several boats circling a “war ship” to find out its intentions? Just one other boat with good two way radio is sufficient to do as the Iranians suggest they intended. The rest is reminiscent of the USS Cole.
......... maybe they will ad this to their apology
Columbia professors plan to visit Iran to apologize to Ahmadinejad
NEW YORK (MNA) An academic delegation of Columbia University professors and deans of faculties plans to visit Tehran to officially apologize to Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad.
The delegation plans to express regret for the insulting remarks Columbia University President Lee Bollinger directed at Ahmadinejad on September 24 in his introductory speech, the Mehr News Agency correspondent in New York reported.
Since the incident, the deans and professors from the faculties of history, anthropology, Middle Eastern studies, philosophy, and Islamic studies have criticized Bollingers behavior toward Ahmadinejad.
A member of the delegation, who requested anonymity, said the main goal of the visit is to meet the Iranian president and officially apologize to him.
The delegation has also prepared its itinerary, he noted.

Does it include transferring their tenure to the University of Tehran?
I’m wondering what will trigger the next financial boon for the military industrial complex — a “Gulf of Tonkin” incident? Or a Reichstag fire?
These treasonists should be locked up, instead they are teaching someone’s children, not mine, y’understand...
Well you know some say:
Lovers and winners shape the future.
Do you teach at Columbia?
No, but I have one nephew who's served as a Marine in Iraq, and another who is on his way there now. 18 of the 19 hijackers, you may recall, were Saudis. And our response was -- to gin up a war against a former client of ours, who had so effectively served our interests in the 1980s that Iran's demographic shape is still injured. The Arab nation that protected its Christian minorities, and even had a Christian prime minister. Some damn body made a buck. And Assyrian Christians are being forced out of homelands they've lived in for nearly 3,000 years.
Or do you agree with Michael Ledeen that the US needs to throw some "crappy little nation" against the wall every ten years or so, to demonstrate our ethical superiority to the world?
Oh no!!! The "Military Industrial Complex!"
Yup - that 3.5% of spending is really bad. It's BAD!
By the way, Defense is authorized in the Constitution.
What about the 96.5% of the rest the Government spends?
The "Military Industrial Complex." Any other Cold War bogey men you would like to bring up?
Yup. During Clinton, it was things like AIDS research, and a thousand other projects in Congressional districts.
In the latest Defense Appropriations bill, there were BILLIONS in earmarks that went to pet districts.
Murtha alone had scores of earmarks for himself.
Moreover, there was a proposed "Hate Crimes" rider in the bill proposed by Sen Kennedy to give homosexuals the right to shut down Christians who called their "lifestyle" sinful.
“Or a Reichstag fire?”
So that’s why we attacked the Germans. All along I thought it was the German attack on Pearl Harbor.
My grandson is on ship 73..Your comments are lacking in knowledge.
Two questions:
1.) Do you think the US video is forged?
2.) Do you think our ships were being deliberately provocative?
The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor..Germany declared war on us soon after.
