It remains to be seen whether this is really going to be all that effective. FWIW, there are antibodies specifically for Alzheimer's in development from a variety of sources which have a good chance of being very effective, 5 - 7 years from now.

There are lots of folks on this subcutaneously for RA, fewer but still alot, on it for psoriasis that way and probably collectively a lot across several other indications. It’s pricey used the usual way. But if this is given via a spinal to acheive levels in just the CSF rather than the whole body I’d expect the dose required to be much less and thus the price lower.

Have you been pinged to this yet? I scanned this thread and didn’t see any mention of “Folding at Home”.

Printing and taking to work with me tomorrow.

May or may not be of help to some of our patients but hope is hope.

Makes me want to cry, this article published on what would have been my mother’s 93rd birthday. She spent the last 25 years of her life in a mental muddle that required her to live in a locked facility. Not a nice way to live or to die.

And yet, she had her moments of clarity — not many, but it was as though she had a veil over her brain. When the light shone in, the old humor, wit, personality, intelligence and memory seemed intact. For maybe two minutes. Then the light in her eyes would die, the words turned into incomprehensible mutterings and she’d shuffle away.

I really hope they’ve nailed a cure. No one should have to go through this.

What a Godsend this will be! Thanks for the post. I'm a bookkeeper at a skilled nursing facility, and we have one wing for Alzheimer's patients. It's called a "secure unit" but is actually a lockdown unit so they won't wander off and get lost. This would be wonderful if it continues to show good results.
