It’s probably more than religion. It’s because Mormons are financially successful, with large families, are decent people with strong moral character. They avoid drinking, smoking and other vices. Since envy is one of the seven deadly sins, everyone hates em.

True. If Leiberman had been critisized for being a Jew then there would have been wrath from all segments of the media in the USA but in the USA you can rip on Mormons and it’s “hip”. One wonders how many people have not voted for Romney just because they perceive that he might not win the general election because he is Mormon - so even though they were not anti-Mormon they voted for McCain instead. As for the Huckster supporters...

“Just like that, 6 million Americans have been virtually disqualified from running for president. They’ve been rendered second-class citizens. They’re foreigners living in America. They face a glass ceiling.”

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

There’s 13,000,000 mormons and this author only says that half would have run for president...

Is that the male half????

What about the other half??? The 6,000,000 females????

Oh that’s right, silly me ..The mormon women were already disqualified from running for president...

They had already “been rendered second-class citizens” by the good old boys in the mormon church ...

How unAmerican is that???????????????????

Every conservative subgroup is mocked like this. Serious evangelicals, committed Catholics, etc.

If Rosie O'Donnell and Bill Maher aren't making fun of me, I'm probably doing something wrong. ;-)

Islamic radicals believe their religion is correct because their prophet appeared after Jesus. Mormons can trump that with their belief.

It’s sad that this election has NO Constitutional focus.

The female US senator who the feminists were able to defeat in Florida was a devout Mormon. Babe Buchanan is a Mormon...the LDS Church encourages women to take part in politics (Utah and Wyoming allowed women to vote long before the US allowed it nationally).

Just like that, 6 million Americans have been virtually disqualified from running for president. They've been rendered second-class citizens. They're foreigners living in America. They face a glass ceiling.

Yikes.

The sniveling and whining from Mitt & Mormons on FR has been pathetic to behold. They denigrate everyone who opposes Mitt as a bigot. They go out of their way to say what victims they are.

Just another "minority group" playing the liberal victimology game.

So the mormons would support a mormon woman who wanted to run for POTUS and they would all come out and vote for her???
_________________________________________________________

Remember this is the same crowd who decided in 1978 to allow a black man to be a semi-leader..after saying for 150 years that black men and women were of the devil..and that their darker skin was a punishment...

Then when two mormon WOMEN (they were delightsome white but still WOMEN) asked Y’OK now what about us??? You allowed a black man to be a leader in the mormon “church” , now how about allowing WOMEN to be leaders also ???

Fair enough question but the two women were thrown out of the mormon church...

And there are still no women in leadership...How come????

How unAmerican is that ????????????????????????

I just do not seethe problem with a Mormon POTUS. I don’t see the problem with Mormons in general with teo exceptions;

1. Stop coming to my door, I’m not interested.

2. Just call it Mormonism and not Christianity, please.

It would be one thing if most of those who oppose Romney did so because they disagreed with his politics or character. ...... The only thing opponents can say about him is that he belongs to a church they don't understand.

Pure delusion.

Uh, where do you get your facts anyway? Also, how many churches in the US have all-male clergies? Let’s see, Catholics, Orthodox Jews and Christians, most Protestant churches, Islamic churches...come on now.

“Utah and Wyoming allowed women to vote long before the US allowed it nationally.”

I thought it was just Wyoming but no matter...the state govenments were not controlled by the mormon church at the time..the vote for woman was by the regular women of the state of Wyoming not the local mormon church whom I’m sure opposed the idea.....

BTW a local mormon woman told me she had to wait till her husband told her who to vote for ...

I asked her who are you going to vote for in the primary..

Oooo I dont know My husband hasnt told me yet...

DUH????????????????????????????????
