I have wAtched alcoholism kill two members of my family. I believe it is a mental disease first (though there are physical components). But once the disease advances, it becomes purely physical, and kills.

I have buried a child. I know the fears you have about raising your children. But what has happened in my family is a different kind of disease, but disease, nonetheless.
