A close member of my family had sarcoma 3 years ago- weeks of radiation - 9 hours of surgery with excruciating pain for weeks afterward- and nearly a year of heavy duty chemo. He laughed and joked his way through it as your friend did- though I know there were times when he wanted to give in..
I understand Glenn’s reaction(s)..but find what he just did on his show embarrassing. For him, and his audience.
I think it is caused by straining...from a poor diet.

I learned this after the birth of my first child. LOL. I've been very fortunate to have angels for recovery nurses. It also helps if you say "please" and "thank you".
Glen lives in CT doesn’t he? I wonder which hospital it was. I would be curious to know.
I had a few flare ups of these horrible things back when I was in my 20s and was afraid it would get worse. Thankfully it has not.
When I had a colonoscopy a few months ago I woke up a couple of times and the pain was pretty intense. I guess they didn’t give me quite enough anesthesia, but when they pumped more in I drifted off again. Next time I guess I should tell them to give me enough to knock out a horse. ;)
Judging from his show this morning he should have made his video with a blankey over his head.
I see the keyboard commandos have populated this thread already to make fun of Glenn. I think it’s cool that the dude is emotional. That makes him interesting. Not everything in life has to be some stupid sport where people pummel the hell out of each other without flinching.
The MD that did the emergency surgery was covering for the surgeon that had performed the original work. He could not fix the problem and the poor guy had to go through another surgery when they found the surgeon. Meanwhile he received blood and went through hell. He is fine today but no thanks to certain members of the ER and fill in MDs. This was in Florida. It could be worse Mr Beck.
I’m not making fun of him. I’m just appalled at his seeming naivete about a hospital stay.
The hallucinations from the meds seem extreme, but my dad’s were pretty bad with just mophine. I give him a break on the hallucinations.

I also appreciate Glenn Beck. Sure, he wears his heart on his sleeve 24/7. With his addiction recovery, I think that protects him to an extent in that there are no secrets in his life.
He does go places that make me wince sometimes. He and his staff readily acknowledge that he does the same to them routinely. I also get the sense that he may be the most honest person in the talk radio business.
In summary, I like Glenn. I think he does a great service. I defy anyone to point out another man who gets the message out in hostile territory as effectively as does he.
I very much agree. Glenn is bringing very much needed attention to our current deficient health care system. For a country that boasts the greatest health care system in the world, this current system is greatly lacking in compassion.
It’s easy to talk tough about Glenn and his situation if one has never been in his situation. I saw my father die not solely because of his medical situation, but from a lack of care and compassion from the health care industry.
My daughter suffers from chronic asthma and has spent more than her fair share of time in doctor’s offices and hospitals. We have experienced great care and unfortunately, not so great care, in the treatment of our daughter.
Some of the Freepers here can laugh at his situation and tell him to “Man Up” if you all want to, but when it’s your time to be treated in the same way and have the same lack of compassion given to you, remember to “Man Up.”
Glenn now saying Barak Obama will be the next President of the U.S.
Apparently he then developed a bladder problem that caused the hospitalization for 5 days. That’s the ER part he talked about.
It seems everyone eventually has an experience with health care, either themselves or that of a loved one, that opens their eyes. This is the one that opened Glenn's eyes.
However, never should we become complacent that this kind of care is "okay" or the "norm." The being appalled should come from realizing that this is the kind of health care that is in most hospitals these days, NOT that someone is so "naive" to think it would/should be otherwise.

Yes, please and thank you does help plus it is just common courtesy. If my family were in the hospital...I would stay with them and take care of them myself with the changing of linens, bathing, shampoo, clean hospital gowns, etc. I would see they had the proper, nutritional foods and I would cook it for them. I would make them as comfortable as possible and...I would stay the night sleeping in a chair as my daughter did for me.

Agreed. I told them I didn’t want to feel anything. I make that a point and have never had a problem. Sometimes I wonder what hospitals are doing this? I’ve had one miscarriage, two births, gallbladder surgery, DnC, knee surgery, dental surgery. Thank God nothing like this has ever happened to me. Maybe I was lucky but...my husband was admitted to emergency with a minor problem that they thought should be looked into and he was treated like gold. Good luck to all patients and God bless and protect them. Good luck to Glen and hope he recovers well.

A floor shower with fresh bandages still on the floor.
Medication interactions.
Overmedication.
Patient and wound sites not being kept clean.
It’s all over work this morning....people (in healthcare) are sharing their HC nightmares.
