WASHINGTON - Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboats harassed three U.S. Navy warships in the Strait of Hormuz Sunday, in what the U.S. military considers a "significant provocative act."
Military officials told NBC News that two US Navy destroyers and one frigate were heading into the Persian Gulf through the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz when five armed "fast boats" of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard approached a high speed, darting in and out of the formation.

A midnight cruise missile into their oil refinerery would be more appropriate.
Their boats would have to have gasoline to work.
Should of blown them out of the water.
Should have put Deep Purple’s “Smoke On The Water” and cranked it.
Gun boats against destroyers? Those guys must have been nuts.
Bingo, we have a winner. NutJob was hoping we would fire and then use that as an ecuse to do a media show that Bush + the GOP candidate warmongers were going to start a new war.
“Revolutionary Guard forces also briefly took a number of British sailors into custody even though the British claim they were operating in international waters off the coast of Iraq.”
Is this comment about the earlier (last year) incedent with the captured British Sailors, or is this a new incident altogether?
The activity by the Revolutionary Guard reported here seems to be theatrical for the purpose of establishing counteraction to obtain propaganda. Either form of reaction by our Navy (ie; weakness without response as happened, or “trigger happy” should we have blown them out of the water.) could be convoluted into self serving propaganda to abet the Iranian leadership in discrediting American presence in the ME within (UN) World opinion.
I believe our side won. The next time, should it happen again our reserve this event will be of benefit.
McCain benefits.
Well, they (then know as the Persians) had a significant fleet of triremes in 480 B.C. That is until the naval battle against the Greeks at Salamis Island. The Greeks sank approximately 200 of the Persian ships. Legend has it that the loss of Persians at the battle was incredibly severe due to the fact that Persians didn't know how to swim. I think they fair better on sand.
Of course they are nuts! These idiots think they are going to get 72 virgins to do the Tijuana Two-Step with for the rest of eternity!

“Iran was successful with wimp presidents like Carter. They think we will fall apart if we tangle with Iran because they think they are Superior thinks to liberals and pansies.”
Don’t worry! Bush will force the Israelis to give up half of Jerusalem, because he’s such a tough guy. That will show the Iranians!
Wake up and smell the coffee.
They just want to join the yacht club.
Look at a map....
There is a great body of water called the Arabian gulf and it borders Iran and the Gulf States.
All have been trading by sea since the beginning of time.
“I keep hoping that some sort of internal revolution of the people develops. We can hope this happens.”
How many years have we been hearing about this “internal revolution?” Or perhaps it would be easier to measure in decades?

Iranians attempting to influence the Dem primary in NH..help Hillary...remember Obama said he would go sit down and talk with them..
