Nearly a dozen members of a police SWAT team in western Colorado punched a hole in the front door and invaded a family's home with guns drawn, demanding that an 11-year-old boy who had had an accidental fall accompany them to the hospital, on the order of Garfield County Magistrate Lain Leoniak. The boy's parents and siblings were thrown to the floor at gunpoint and the parents were handcuffed in the weekend assault, and the boy's father told WND it was all because a paramedic was upset the family preferred to care for their son themselves. Someone, apparently the unidentified paramedic, called police, the sheriff's office and social services, eventually providing Leoniak with a report that generated the magistrate's court order to the sheriff's office for the SWAT team assault on the family's home in a mobile home development outside of Glenwood Springs, the father, Tom Shiflett, told WND.

wow. its just gonna get worse.
“You are being placed under arrest for refusing to allow medical personnel to dress your son’s wound. Anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law.”
Welcome to nationalized healthcare and the nanny state.
The family, whose members live by faith and homeschool, decided not to call an ambulance.
The kid falls, hit's his head, and some little rodent paramedic tries to play God. So typical of many in the medical field today, they think "the patient" is just their slave to provide billable time/services against, without any say in the matter.
Dad says he’s going to sue and I hope he sets the taxpayers back by millions.
I think this is a nanny. Especially since this says the boy was released immediately:
>>>The paramedic and magistrate, however, ruled that that wasn’t adequate, and dispatched the officers to take the boy, John, to a hospital, where a doctor evaluated him and released him immediately.<<<
For consideration of your homeschool ping list.
Dear God in Heaven have mercy.
Moral Absolutes?
The POLICE state of NY has a tell on your neighbor system that goes in guns drawn first without any PROOF or facts to support. Its their ability to get in your home and look around for something to be upset about.
I see we haven't learned our lesson.
Whatever happened to knocking on the door and serving a warrant?? Regardless this is an amazing abuse of power.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..
Social Services doesn’t need a warrant. They just show up at your door and demand to be let in. Should you refuse, a police officer WILL be summoned and they will invade your home...all on the word of someone that they will not identify
“Remember this came from world NUT daily. There is more to this story.”
WND is a fringe publication IMO. They have an obvious agenda and blur the lines between news and ‘special offers’.
That said there is no reason to use SWAT unless there is imminent threat to a person or excessive danger to the police officer. From the story it sounds to me like the family was reasonable and the jackbooted thugs were out of control. In this case the thugs arent the swat team, its the judge and the child welfare system.
“Remember this came from world NUT daily. There is more to this story.”
A presumptuous speculation.
Colorado police are the nations best!!! look at the job they did on the Jon Benet Ramsey case.(sarc)
“Social Services doesnt need a warrant. They just show up at your door and demand to be let in. Should you refuse, a police officer WILL be summoned and they will invade your home...all on the word of someone that they will not identify”
I thought that trend was reversed by a radical judge who said they had to have an actual warrant.
The family’s real crime was that they are Christian and homeschool. That obviously makes them dangerous. /s
If the kid was bleeding or unconscious I could understand making sure the kid was cared for, not by swat though. They knew this was not the case. I hope this guys finds a good lawyer and shuts that state down.
