Howie Carr live thread for week of Jan 6, 2008 (we will start off with his column from today's Sunday Boston Herald about how Hillary is "so yesterday". For those unfamiliar, Howie is a longtime writer for the Boston Herald and author of "The Brothers Bulger" (cash register rings here)--and, since the early 90s, Boston-based talk radio host.
Howie can be heard weekdays 3-7 pm (hours vary depending on station) on WRKO in Boston and several other stations in New England (WRKO, WCRN Worcester, and WNTK in New Hampshire all stream). For the New Hampshire primary, Howie and his gang are right in the belly of the beast (the Hilldabeast!) and his show will be must listening the next few days. As it is always...FReep me to join the Howie Carr ping list.

Hmmm, perhaps Howie’s minions should track down a Rodney Dangerfield sound clip: “I’m telling ya, I don’t get no respect....”

What the heck is a “Bob the Builder”?
To: Cheapskate
Rush was saying that McCain and Huckabee probably have an agreement to dump solely on Romney.
To: Calvin Locke
Bob The Builder is a cartoon on PBS.
bob is a carpenter/builder type that has talking bulldozers /enloaders ect that help him build buildings
It tries to teach positive can -do attitudes to kids.
That's what the "Can we build it? Yes we can" bit is about.

From the blog by former WRKO talk host (replaced by The Felon) Scott Allen Miller:
Howie--wearing WTKK button!--with Scotto at the New Hampshire primary "Radio Row" at the Radisson. Just below HC's pic on the
same page is a pic of former MA gov Jane Swift who has apparently lost weight.

Yeah, that’s what Mark Levin’s book (Rescuing Sprite, which
I read via Salem Library) is about. Poor dog died. Died,
died. The dog...died...
Steve from Montreal was just wondering why Howie was
having his competition on the air (Hannity). Howie said
he was raiding some of the food down at the FM station’s
digs, saw him, and said, come on up we’ll put you on
the show (Hannity had a taped hour coming up). “Hey,
I used to work for Rupert...”
Someone on savewrko.com (comment) was saying Howie was
having Col. Hunt on a lot because he wanted an “in”
to get a show on Fox News Channel...who knows, maybe
he was trying to get Hannity to put a good word for him
over at FNC!
We’ll know if one day we tune in and Howie is
filling in for Sean on “Hannity’s America” or even H&C!

Had to step away for a bit...
Yes, Sheets Byrd wins the sound bite contest on dogs.
As FNC goes, I bet between Chris "...and Carr wouldn't let go of a couple of faux pas I made..." Wallace, and Fred "...and Carr let Kucinich & posse camp out in his studio overnight, then he brought them in to raid our food..." Barnes, I think both of them out influence Hunt in that regard.
To: Calvin Locke
here was the savewrko post in question:
“A moment of truth in Howieland leaked out on the show yesterday. At around 5ish, Howie admitted that he is kissing up to the colonel because of Hunt’s access and role at Fox. He wants Hunt to help land him a job. No secret that Howie is blindly jealous of O’Reilly et al and is a major wannabe. I think this is his game plan now. But if he doesn’t step up his on air work, he can kiss it goodbye.”

I heard what Howie said, and my take was that he wants to get calls to comment on current happening, not that he wants BOR-like job. (And have his book mentioned.)
Howie's said his "Q number" on tv is in the wrong direction.
That implies that he wouldn't cut it like Hannity, or BOR, or even Keith Olbermann or Anderson Cooper.
But since you bring it up, it must frost him to see Barnicle on the tube, subbing for Matthews. I think Rush mentioned Barnicle (on Matthews) today.
To: raccoonradio
Well,I would almost be willing to bet a shiny dime over Lisa's morning listening habits.
You think mabye she is a big fan of "Felon's forum?"
