I think you have summed the situation up well although my agreement to it is academic being British.

One comment I would make I think Thompson may win more votes than the media think but I doubt it will be enough to get the nomination but he may well help another candidate or as I am wondering may in fact be the party’s choice for VP.

He would bring the conservative block of the Republican Party with him but as I have said before I do not think he will appeal to independent or non decided voters across the country. However bringing the conservative vote with him and with the more countrywide appeal of whoever is the Presidential candidate it could well swing the election for the Republican Party in fact may well be the only way that the Republicans can win.

Snugs, Fred would not be the VP.

He can’t run in 8 years if he was VP.

He would not be able to accomplish anything as VP that he would like to accomplish, and that is his reason for running.

He has already said that he would go back to doing what he was doing before if he does not win, if the voters don’t choose him.

It would be foolish for him to waste his time trying to elect someone else when there isn’t anyone else close to him on positions that he could be compatible with.

It is just wishful thinking for some to even bring his name up for VP.

I support Fred Thompson, but I don’t want him to run for VP with any of the current candidates. I am becoming more of a conservative and allegiance to the Republican party just because it is Rep is just not there anymore. It is more what do they stand for?
