Gratefully, the tide is changing. One by one people are coming to see that abortion is the killing of a person.

This is not an article of faith or a religious belief to be brushed off by secular humanist critics, whether they are ideologically left or right. We understand that the terms 'baby' and 'fetus' are equally applied to the unborn. We also understand that a mother-to-be does not announce that she is carrying a fetus, but that she is going to have a baby. Linguistic machinations don't change ontological status. The killing of a legally innocent human being is at best manslaughter or homicide, and not something a thoughtful, compassionate American would endorse in a sane society. To perform this procedure knowingly or--allowing for grievous incompetence--unknowingly is to facilitate murder--plain and simple.
