Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will win the Wyoming Republican caucuses, CNN projects.

With 91 percent of precincts reporting, Romney has won eight of Wyoming's 12 delegates.
Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson has won two, and California Rep. Duncan Hunter has won one.
Wyoming's Republican contest comes two days after the Iowa caucuses and three days before the New Hampshire primary.
The early date of the Wyoming GOP county conventions was intended to draw candidates' attention to the state, but has had only modest results.
Republican hopefuls Romney, Hunter, Fred Thompson and Ron Paul all stopped by the state -- visits they probably wouldn't have made except for this year's early conventions -- and candidates have sent Wyoming's GOP voters a flood of campaign mail.
The traditional leadoff nomination contests in Iowa and New Hampshire have dominated the attention of both candidates and the national media in recent months, and no candidates visited Wyoming in the four weeks leading up to the caucuses.
Hunter was the last to visit the state on December 4.

I was unaware those states had voted.
What are you trying to say? That Rudy should have quit because he missed out on a bonanza of 50 delegates in some small states? After putting $50 million into his campaign, he suddenly realized that Wyoming doesn’t like him. Oh no, he better quit!
BTW, in a little noted bit of trivia, Ron Paul did carry one Iowa county, to Huck's 77 and Mitt's 24. Said county is best known in Iowa for its institution of higher learning, Maharishi University. It looks like Paul really turned out the transcendental meditation folks.

Thompson 2 delegates 1 alternate
Hunter 1 delegate 1 alternate
McCain 1 alternate
Uncommitted 4 alternate
The outstanding county has a delegate assigned to it.
Some counties are listed as alternates because Wyoming lost half it’s delegates due to having it’s caucus prior to Feb 5. Those “alternates” will attend the convention under the hope that the eventual nominee will decide to seat them despite their breaking the rules.
Iowa was not penalized because their caucus was non-binding. Technically speaking Iowa didn’t even count.
I’m not too surprised. Romney had some Mormon volunteers come up from Utah.

I am surprised by this. I didn’t think that Wyoming caucus-goers would go for someone as urbane as Romney. It somewhat softens the impact of the Iowa, but not by much.
New Hampshire is winnow out the field some.
Why? There are a bunch of Mormons in Wyoming, hence the Mitt win. And Fred is, well, Fred. The choice of the majority of FReepers, including JimRob.
My thought was that FT would receive more than 2 delegates.
Fred Thompson finished second place, which is a good sign.

I really think Fred will shine as the Southern and some of the Midwest primaries are held. Mitt and Rudy have no chance in the South.

As of tonight, Mitt Romney leads the delegate count for the Republican nomination. Despite the Iowa caucus result - the ClusterHuck - Romney is neither down nor out.

Sorry, but according to the last update at 6:45 pm EST, Thompson got 3 delegates, and Hunter only got 1 delegate.
Well then you best run over and ask him if your boy McCain can borrow it since a cloaking device is the only way Pseudo conservative McCain has of ever winning the Republican Nomination.
So how is that "progressive" Senator from VA, Jim Webb, that you worked so hard to elect in 2006 working out for you MD?
