“I heard Jason Lewis, who was filling for Rush, say that this would be the last national primary that was run this way, that the next primary would, in all probability be one day, all vote at the same time, election. It gives far too much power to two insignificant states, and frankly the rest of the country is fed up with the way they vote.”

It would take a federal law to over-ride every state’s law to make a one date primary election for all states. There would be an uproar from the states. Perhaps the Rush guy doesn’t exactly understand how it works and he may be doing wishful thinking.

I think that Jason Lewis was thinking that the party apparatchik would over power the state parties and change the rules for a one day primary. It is really not fair the way it is done now. All you have to do is look at Florida and what is happening with their chosen date, to know that the present system is not working, never mind that Iowa voters picked Huckabee.

When Jason talks, it’s wise to listen. He’s the most hardcore conservative you will ever find and a serious intellectual to boot. I started listening to him in the mid 90’s and he has done more to shape my thinking than anybody except Aquinas, Ayn Rand, Barry Goldwater, and Reagan. That should give you a good idea of the reverence I hold for him. He has done more to advance conservatism here in MN than all the others combined.
