Mitt Romney says you're full of beans:

“I remember in my earliest political experience my father fighting to keep the John Birch Society from playing too strong a role in the Republican Party. He walked out of the Republican National Convention in 1964, when Barry Goldwater said, ‘Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.’ Because he saw that as a tacit approval of the effort the John Birch Society was making to influence the Republican Party. I think that extremists who would force their views on the party and try to shape the party are making a mistake." - Source

Interesting reading material.

Way back in 1994 I decided that I might not always vote for the Republican candidate, but I'd never again vote for a Democrat. However, if it would come down to Obama versus Romney, I might have to change my mind on that. Obama is way out on the left fringe, but I think the country could survive four years of him as president the same way we survived Jimmy Carter.

I couldn't vote for somebody that seems as sleazy as Romney (short of being backed into a corner by Hillary being the Democrat nominee). Romney's only core principles seem to be that there are no limits to what you need to be willing to do to get elected. With Romney's willingness and ability to make up a history out of thin air, he reminds me a lot of Bill Clinton with his "It depends on what the meaning of is, is".

The really sad thing is that he seems to be just another Al Gore. In both cases, the main thing driving the run for the presidency seems to be some sort of need to try to make up for their feelings that their fathers were cheated out of their rightful place in history. Romney and Gore, fighting so hard to get elected, for no other reason than just to get elected. Exactly the opposite of Reagan, who did it to try to make the country and the world better.
