I guess you could put enough into an HSA to cover the cost of a catastrophic health plan, but MA didn’t give us the option to JUST get a catastrophic health plan, in addition to an HSA. If too many people did that, they wouldn’t have the money to subsidize other insurers. But we did choose the highest deductible plan we could get, and fund an HSA for out of pocket expenses.
