Clinton's Supporters Question Her Strategy
Washington Post ^ | January 5, 2008 | By Anne E. Kornblut, Jonathan Weisman and Paul Kane

MANCHESTER, N.H., Jan. 4 -- After an unexpectedly thorough defeat in Iowa, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton faced a barrage of second-guessing Friday from supporters worried that her campaign strategy could cost her the Democratic nomination.

In a flurry of conference calls throughout the day, described by several participants, anxious Clinton advisers agreed to stick to her original message -- that only the former first lady has the experience to bring about change. And while they decided to increase the pressure on Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) here, campaign officials were debating how hard to hit him on his experience level in the few short days until the New Hampshire primary.

So far, no senior Clinton advisers have been ousted for failing to produce a victory in Iowa, despite their spending many months and millions of dollars there only to see the candidate's status as the Democratic front-runner vanish. But supporters outside the campaign were quick to question Mark Penn, the chief strategist, whose polling data suggested she could win in Iowa; Patti Solis Doyle, the campaign manager, who moved to Iowa to try to eke out a win; and an inner circle of operatives whose "inevitability" strategy failed to blunt the message of "change" that swept Obama into first place Thursday night.

As Clinton flew from Iowa to New Hampshire, her supporters were divided over how she should handle the early defeat. Paul Begala, a campaign strategist for her husband and a Hillary Clinton supporter, said she could take one of two approaches: explain away Iowa by dismissing it as unfamiliar territory, diminishing its odd caucus system and portraying it as Obama's neighboring state; or accept responsibility for the loss, saying, " 'I've been knocked on my rear end. It's not fun, but the view from the canvas can be

As "definable" conservatives, we represent perhaps 25% to 35% of the population at most.

And 25% is too close to 10%. If we're not quite there, we're certainly heading that way.
The whole system is geared toward filtering out conservatism. How is it to survive in the grinders of public education, the media, colleges where the educators are predominantly liberal? Gun control, eminent domain for better tax revenues, pro-choice, euthanasia...those who influence others on these issues, and those who decide cases on these issues, are liberals and historically ignorant moderates.
IMO we conservatives who have survived the winnowing process are standing on an overturned lifeboat.

Seeing the tears well up in CHELSEA’s eyes, finally, as HILLARY RODHAM was busy stretching out an Iowa Primary TV concession speech into another campaign speech of hers,

...made all our CLARITY efforts here on Freerepublic.com where the enemy within CLINTONS are concerned...

...WORTH IT ALL.

Some sacrificed much along the way, just for this moment:

Yes, yes.... if Hillary is really defeated,
and not nominated as VP, all will be good.

But Hillary doesn’t like Good.

Clinton advisers agreed to stick to her original message -- that only the former first lady has the experience to bring about change.

What a ridiculous comment.

Hillary actually has less experience with government than does Obama - a former state-level politico in Illinois and also a US Senator.

Hillary's experience: US Senator + raising Chelsea and screaming at Bill + a little questionable lawyering.

Biden and Dodd far outstripped both of them in experience, but they've both been forced out of the race.

The wheels are coming off the bus, and it’s hurtling over the cliff.

Even Bubba and Chelsea can't save her now.

Hardly. She has the money, super delegates and established political machinery in the states with the necessary delegate count. The nomination is hers.

This is all about appearances in these early and small primaries.

Hillary's supporters should be panicked.

Her message of change is a joke: Bush--Clinton--Bush--another Clinton?

Her message of experience is a joke. She can't even decide whether or not she had a security clearance or not, and if she can't keep her husband out of strange beds how is she supposed to keep a watchful eye on American's adversaries around the world?

Her message of likeability is a joke. If your mom has to run ads to say you are likeable you are not likeable.

She can't attack Obama without coming off as a racist.

Hillary is caught in a Chinese box.

If I were her campaign advisor....

I would quit and beg Obama to let me join his team.

The Hillary campaign is a quagmire.

:-)

I didn’t see it in the first page, there’s hundreds of images there and many categories. But I did see your ‘Hillary-Wellesley’[ one of her in glasses that turns red - two framer.

What do they do, just take what they want off of the sites?
They are so tiny there it’s hard to distinguish some without enlarging them.
