Futures markets see McCain, Obama wins

Bets in the political futures markets strongly suggest the momentum Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain gained in the Iowa caucuses will carry them both to strong victories in the upcoming New Hampshire primary.

Pollster Scott Rasmussen, who relied on the markets to predict accurately Iowa wins for Obama and Gov. Mike Huckabee, told WND McCain gained the most nationally after a virtual tie for third in the Hawkeye state. Anticipating a New Hampshire victory, the markets now project the Arizona senator as the favorite to win the GOP nomination.

The Rasmussen market predictions now give Obama a 65 percent chance of winning the Democratic primary in New Hampshire and McCain a 74 percent chance in the state's Republican contest.

Intrade.com, a predictions market run out of Ireland, shows almost exactly the same results, giving Obama a 67 percent chance of winning New Hampshire and McCain a 74.9 percent chance.

"Our prediction market for Iowa turned out to be very accurate," Rasmussen said.

Yeah, and I think the “Independents” are going for Ron Paul.
I don’t see how McCain’s stock went up...

Look personally I thing a McCain/Guiliani ticket is inevitable... It is a strong ticket that can win the nation.

The other side wants Obama/Edwards ticket which is probably likely....

So if you leave the GOP does that mean you won’t vote in the national or will you be so cynical you will vote for Obama/Edwards?

Yep thats how you beat them stay at home and let the Democrats rule the Roost... LOL this board is way too cynical...

You vote the party ticket no matter who the nominee is because the Progressives intend to do this nation great harm and by voting for the Party you can at least tell your grandkids that you tried your best to stop the fall of Democracy in this country.

Interesting predictions, except for the Richardson part. I can’t see that.

Many people on this site have promised to stay home if McCain, Romney, or Huckabee is the nominee. If just a third of them actually do, and they are representative of a substantial percentage of Republicans generally, the Dems will win the election easily.

The GOP is a coalition of different subgroups, each with different agendas. If the GOP does not nominate a candidate that is at least acceptable to the members of the coalition, then the coalition disintegrates, and the GOP goes the way of the Whigs. McCain is non-negotiably unnacceptable to at least two important groups that make up the GOP coalition. Those are the cold, hard facts. Deal with it.

McCain is old. However, I would vote for him before I would vote for Huckabee.

It means I will look third party or sit it out. And don’t give me that “it’s a vote for Hillary” crap. I know the implications.

The Obama part of that ticket will give them trouble with many white liberals,if the comments I`ve heard are to be believed.I`m thinking of going into enemy territory here in Ohio for the primaries.

Or I can tell my grandkids that I could not abide a party that nominates someone who consistently stabbed his own party in the back, who limited political free speech, who was trotted out on CNN for eight years like a trained seal to bash Bush at every turn. You want me to fall in line for THAT guy?

No F-ing way. No possible F-ing way. And what sort of IDIOT would I be to vote with a party that even NOMINATES such a guy?? I can't do it. I'd rather vote for a party with a principle than one that nominates their own Benedict Arnold. A party that nominates John McCain is beyond clueless. They would be brain dead. I can't cast my lot with a party that stupid.

Thats mainly because they are being cynical instead of being rational... Its mainly the BUILD THE FENCE Conservatives that feel that way.. They are way too emotional on that single issue and they fail to see the forest through the trees..

How bout this... When Hillary or Obama is sitting in the WH and (because their ticket is running on everyting opposite Bush) They sign an E-Order that tells the Intel Agencies they can no longer wiretap phone lines without court approval. or they pull the troops out of Iraq in fact when they undo anything that Bush has done.. Many Liberals will rejoice at the return of privacy which they feel is a civil liberty and rejoice that their President is doing something positive then inevitably our enemies will resume communications and coordinate the next attack or the markets will crash or some such devastation so when 30,000 or 50,000 Americans are dead at the next 911... when we are feeling the pain of America at war (The Democrats will ask Americans to sacrifice with tax increases, bigger government oversight, rationing, and you will be called unpatriotic if you refuse)... So my point is Bush is fighting a war and keeping our economy growing and it is being felt by very few in America let the Democrats in charge and well you know (I feel your pain) in other words the Rats have convinced America that all is bad so when they get in power and all goes bad they can say it is a starting point....

Vote appropriately...

you tried your best to stop the fall of Democracy in this country.

If McCain is the best hope we have at this, then we're already screwed.

Anyway, McAmnesty doesn't need my vote. He can just suck up to Democrats for votes like he did in 2000.

“You vote the party ticket no matter who the nominee is because the Progressives intend to do this nation great harm and by voting for the Party you can at least tell your grandkids that you tried your best to stop the fall of Democracy in this country.”

Yep, that’s what I’m living for. So I can tell my grandchildren, “Hey kids! I voted for the party that took us to hell in a handbasket just a tad more slowly than the Democrats would have. Congratulate me!”

Here’s a novel idea. How ‘bout we nominate a conservative so we don’t have to vote for insane RINO creepazoids like McCain so that Marxist crepazoids like Obama don’t get in office? Is that really asking so much?

I’ve always voted, and I’ve always voted Republican except for Ed Clark, Libertarian, in 1980 (don’t ask, tequila was involved). And the only time I’ve ever been happy about the candidate I was voting for was 1984. I am sick to death of voting for the Republican just so the evil Dem doesn’t get in, and I am not entirely sure I’m going to be able to bring myself to do it this time around, especially with this field of pathetic candidates. Enough is enough.
