School districts continue free shoe distribution despite legal threat (a church and state issue?)

The Alliance Defense Fund was able to prevent a liberal group from spoiling the Christmas cheer of two South Carolina school districts by offering to serve as their legal counsel.

The Edgefield and Aiken County districts had received threats of legal action from Americans United for Separation of Church and State last month for facilitating distribution of shoes to students by volunteers in a church-sponsored program. During winter each year, a Baptist church in the Aiken, South Carolina, area offers the "Laces 4 Love" program, which provides shoes to consenting parents of children who are wearing worn-out or inappropriately cold seasonal footwear.

Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) attorney David Cortman says schools in the two districts provide parental contact information to the church and then allow volunteers to come to schools to deliver the shoes. "Americans United for Separation of Church and State -- one of the far-left liberal groups -- basically found out about this and threatened to sue the school, no less during Christmas time, if they didn't discontinue this worthwhile program," he explains.

ADF sent a letter to the districts informing them that the partnership was perfectly legal, as much as a partnership with a secular aid group would be, and that the Constitution provides equal access for the church's program. They also offered to defend the districts if they received legal action from Americans United.

Bolstered by ADF's support, the districts chose to continue the program. Cortman says liberals are once again trying to wipe out religion from daily life, despite constitutional provision against restricting freedom of religion.

"If this were any secular organization, no one would say a word," the attorney shares. "But merely because a religious organization is doing what the Bible encourages us all to do -- and that is reach out to the needy, reach out to the poor and offer them a service -- for some reason in the left's eyes it automatically becomes unconstitutional."

According to an ADF press statement, Laces 4 Love has distributed in excess of 12,000 pairs of shoes to children in the two-county area.

“...for some reason in the left’s eyes it automatically becomes unconstitutional.”

It, as you know is all part of the destruction of our way of life mandated by the author(s) of Socialism/Communism your choice. Using our Constitution for the purpose of destroying us and our Constitution for Global Power of the self centered, self anointed, Secular Elitist Mortal Masters.

These God wannabees are the lot behind the left turn in Europe, and the advanced work in progress of our own Leftist delusionaries.

Curious if America will ever wake up, or just continue rolling over and slapping blindly at the snooze button until it’s temporarily silenced once again.

They have become so blinded by hate that they have no idea how loudly this illustrates their insanity?

To deliberately try to deny thousands of children much needed shoes is hardly a battle to start.

OTOH - it looks like the sheeple are finally realizing that these groups - including the ACLU - have been getting away with cowing any and all groups/municipalities into submission all these years with, largely, just the ‘threat’ of suit, knowing that the majority haven’t the funds to fight a suit.

But word has finally gotten out - that the Constitution and Supreme Court Rulings defend religion from gov’t intrusion, not the other way around...

The 3 Stooges: Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill OReilly rarely even call the enemy what it is: Marxism!

The 3 Stooges continue using the words: leftist, liberal, socialist, or progressive. What are they ASLEEP?

Marxism is our nation’s most important, serious, and URGENT threat! And,,,our government schools are its most powerful weapon against freedom!

We can survive a nuclear suitcase bomb, but freedom will NOT survive if the Marxists succeed in indoctrinating the next generation of voters.

IT IS THAT SERIOUS!!!! ( I am with you. Why are Americans so blind?)

If the United Slaves distributed shoes to school kids during Kwanzaa the libs would be beside themselves with joy at the 'diversity' and 'unity'.

It makes perfect sense given their Marxist religious, cultural, and political dialectics. You see, the goal here is to chew away at the very foundations of the Judeo Christian principles that support Western Civilization and underlie all freedom.

So?...What to do?

Ultimately, we must close down all government k-12 education in this nation. K-12 schools, colleges, and universities are the Marxists most important weapon. They will definitely win ( and freedom will lose) in the ballot box, if the Marxists succeed in indoctrinating the next generation of voters.

However...I do support the ADF in its action. The Marxist agenda must be pushed back on every front. If we don’t Christians will soon be hiding in catacombs. ( Yes, they really **do** hate us that much. It’s a visceral thing.)

This list is for articles relating to public education.

SoftballMominVA, Gabz and I have been asked to take over the list so that Metmom can concentrate on home schooling issues. If you want on or off this ping list, please FReepmail this month’s keeper of the list, SoftballMominVA.

Ummmmmmm....if you'll re-read the article, you'll see that the schools and the churches were cooperating, and that's why the Marxist organization, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, was threatening to sue the schools.

the schools and the churches were cooperating,

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You see, Amelia, I respect freedom of conscience for all the students and this includes those that believe in God, those that don’t, those that are Baptists, and those who don’t want their impressionable children exposed to Baptist culture or religious belief.

I also believe the First Amendment was right about freedom of assembly regardless of what a person’s religious worldview might be. Some people really don’t want the government threatening them with armed police action if they refuse to assemble with shoe delivering Baptists.

Since government schooling and freedom of conscience can not co-exist, the solution is to have a completely private system of universal K-12 education.

So..while this school while this school is cooperating with a Baptist church ( a religion with which I do not belong) we must remember two things:

1) Any government school powerful enough to expose its children to Baptist philosophy is powerful enough to expose its captive students to my religious philosophy, or to the religious world view of the Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

Actually, it is completely rational for the AUSCS to fight in this tug of war over the hearts and minds of children. Hey! There can only be one winner. Why not them?

2) The best defense against the Americans United for Separation of Church and State is complete separation of SCHOOL and state! Do this, and the Marxists will have lost one of their most important weapons in their fight against freedom!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If you will re-read my post ( #15) and P8triot1’s post, you will see that he was referring to the Americans United for Separation of Church and State. You will also see that I was too.

Yes, the actions of the Americans United for Separation of Church and State makes perfect sense if you understand that their Marxist philosophical worldview includes the destruction of Judeo Christian principles, Western Civilization, and freedom.

Government schools are the most important weapons of the Marxists.

Only a legal, liberal, group of lawyers would want to keep poor kids from getting new shoes.

I wonder what they’re doing to help the needy? Don’t they have enough money?
