Yes, Islam swallowed any hopes of of a continuing Arab legacy. Although, we benefit from some of their discoveries still. What would life be like without Arabic numerals?

About just the same, because what the Arabs call "Arabic" numerals, were in fact invented in India. Look it up.

Oh my God! How your comment desperately needs enlightenment!!

One of the factors contributing to Arab Civilization was how they would usurp, assimilate the inventions, advances, discoveries of those societies they conquered, into, as their own.

As a matter of historical record, the system, societal convention known as "Arab numerals", you, we all speak of, has been traced back, was invented in, India.
