You said — “Mormons have been serving in our military for generations, many making the ultimate sacrifice for our country. That’s enough to make them good fellow citizens as far as anyone should be concerned.”
I don’t care if they serve in the military, or are my neighbors, or are my coworkers. That’s fine. I’ve never said that they are criminals or liberals (oh my!) or were anything like the Islamics (who are *real whackos*). No, not at all.
What they are (as a religious group) is a *cult group* — a “non-Christian cult group” — and that is by *definition* from basic, historic and foundational Christianity. Nothing will change that, because they are *so radically different* in their teachings and doctrines that it is *totally unrecognizable* as anything to do with Christianity.
And since I have as a *first criteria* for a candidate — to be a Christian — that means I never vote for a cult group member, never an Islamic, never a Buddhist, never *anybody* — other than a Christian.
It’s a really simple proposition and doesn’t cause me any headaches in the least.....

Of course they have a gloriously enlightened political system after narrowly escaping the parliamentary democracy which nearly led them to perdition under the former Sha of Iran. The practise of Judaism and Christianity is outlawed in Iran. MOrality is enforved by Sharia law. They have the whole shebang wrapped up in one neat uniform religious political pre criterion, very similar to yours. Now what would the USA be like if the majority of people in the United STates held your view?
It would over time be very much like Iran.
And our founding fathers were very wise in the Republican culture they created. We have steadfastly avoided such evolution, and hopefully will continue to do so.
