GOP presidential hopeful Fred Thompson said in an in-studio interview with KCCI-TV in Des Moines that there is no truth to rumors that his campaign will fold before New Hampshire if he doesn't have a strong showing in Iowa.
"That is absolutely made up out of whole cloth," said the former U.S. Senator from Tennessee.
Thompson said a rival campaign was likely the source of that rumor.
"Can you imagine such a thing in politics?" he asked.
Thompson said his campaign is seeing a "surge" in interest right now, and said he has visited 50 communities in the Hawkeye State in the last couple weeks.
"I'm not going to play into any scenario that's not totally optimistic," he said.
Thompson touched on his plan for strengthening border security to prevent terrorist attacks, and his plan to simplify the tax code.
"Our tax code is a mess right now," he said.

Email Johnathan Martin at Politico. Tell him that you’re a ‘source close to Huckabee’.

That’s our Huck, shuckin n jivin. How any pubbie can vote for that idiot is beyond me. I used to like Chuck Norris but his endorsement of Huckabee has pretty much sent that down the river.

Told ya so, you fair weather freepers - It smelt to high heaven.
I tried to add another post in answer to some of you that swallowed this as whole cloth without a flicker of doubt that it could be a dirty campaign trick to cost Fred a lot of votes - I was sickened by the trend starting in the posts right here in FR - does no one think for themselves anymore?
Shame on you.

I thought that it smelled like dirty politics. They are afraid of Fred, he is gaining.
Go get'em Fred. We know you can do it.

If Yahweh Huckster is nominated, I will be dropping out of the election process come this November.

I used to like Chuck Norris but his endorsement of Huckabee has pretty much sent that down the river. Here too. BIG disappointment. Thought he had more brains...I wonder, after the string of gaffs the past few days, if Chuck is scratching his head, thinking: "WTF?"
