DES MOINES, Iowa Several Republican officials close to Fred Thompsons presidential campaign said they expect the candidate will drop out of the race within days if he finishes poorly in Thursdays Iowa caucus.

What does “worked the pole” mean? Do you mean “poll?”
I believe that the base is demoralized and splintering. That’s why we lost 2006. When the base is excited, we all go out and convince those fence-sitters to vote our way. If we have nothing to be excited about and are just voting against someone or something, we’ve got nothing to use to convince the fence-sitters. That’s when we lose.
Brand new here?
This story seems rather vaguely sourced.
Meanwhile, Romney’s non-Conservatism is well documented.
What, exactly, do you find unacceptable about Duncan Hunter, since you are indeed making efforts to support a candidate?
If your statement proves true then 2008 will be the end of the GOP as we know it.
The nomination of a liberal on the GOP ticket in 2008 will, in all likelihood, spawn the birth of a 3rd party.
I agree with most of that — I think the culprit is the clear division in American politics. The battle is for a thin sliver of voters. And that’s made a lot of the candidates a little batty.
Good luck to whoever is your candidate tomorrow. Should your candidate get the nomination, he can count on my vote.
Fred is NOT dropping out. Pure rumor.
“You must have fallen off your horse and damaged your brain.”
You are a Fred supporter, am I correct, well you just made my case. Fred should try going to church more often, maybe his base would learn how to treat others with more dignity.
Good, I am glad that you think that. Because I will not condone those tactics.
If Giuliani suddenly got ill and decided not to run, I would be willing to bet that Romney would have another "change of heart" in a heartbeat.
Rodeomama's statement that "I wish more people would change their minds. And someone like Mitt who has had a change of heart is more effective then someone who just wants to use the abortion issue as a poltical football." is so thick with irony that it is hilarious. Romney is an empty suit who is carrying the abortion football to whatever goal line will end in victory for himself. He is not now nor has he ever been a "pro-life" candidate. He's a chameleon. We will never know his true colors because he doesn't have any. He has no core principles other than getting himself elected president.
Seantor Thompson has stated very plainly HIMSELF that this is a false rumor.
How should I treat someone who lies about their candidates position...as has been proven by the many quotes posted in this thread. Sorry I said you fell off your horse, after your last post I am now certain you are brain damaged from birth.
He is a liberal, rockefeller republican just like his daddy was as governor of Michigan.
That’s what the romney’s do: save money and support liberal causes.
My guess is that he has dinner dates with Harry Reid, another white & delightsome, pro-abortion liberal.
I think so too. It's disinformation...who stands to gain from it? Probably another Republican candidate.
So besides the media hype, just how many delegates does Iowa provide for the nomination? In the PGA, this used to be referred to as the silly season; there is a tournament every weekend, just to provide the TV networks with someplace warm to cover during the winter.
Yes, we've had to tolerate that level of CRAP being said not about our candidate, but about his wife. It's happened on more than one occasion, certain posters here implying Fred's wife was a hooker and a stripper.
Link please. I don't think a real Romney supporter would have said that about Fred's wife.
You're so witty.
I bet you're white and delightsome too.
