The latest news from Iowa? According to Zogbys latestand I quote: Sen. Fred Thompson has seen a late-breaking surge. (Rich notes the same poll below.)
Whats going on here? My guess is that there are whole lot of Iowa Republicans who have about the same attitude that David Limbaugh displayed in his column yesterday:
Fred is the only [candidate] I don't have major reservations about
.I find his lack of "fire in the belly" refreshing. He strikes me as one of the few presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan whose primary motivation is not personal aggrandizement but rather serving and leading the nation in very troubled and dangerous times. I see him as almost being drafted into this project, and his refusal to drool publicly over the prospect of becoming the most powerful man in the world is positively delightful.

This line is priceless:
“It doesn’t matter which Democratic leader I run against. They’re all one in the same. They are all NEA, Moveon.org, ACLU, Michael Moore Democrats.”
Talk about hitting the bullseye!
LOL. We get around.
Great picture of Fred. I’m ‘borrowing’ it. Thanks.
Good morning to both you and Samwolf! I hope the New Year finds you well.
Good reporting. Thanks.
Lose it? 'It' is 'southron'. Don't come down here okay. You'll just fall asleep. The South doesn't have a problem with Fred at all. His style will be familiar to folks down here. I expect him to do well in the SC primary.
To be honest, I’m glad tossup is gone. His/her drivel and BS was really getting to be boring.
Good morning. We are up early here and COLD! We are having an unusual cold snap here in the South, it’s only 19 degrees for heaven’s sake. At least there is no snow and it will be reaching the 70’s next week.
Is school over yet where you are? Are you back home yet?
Two more weeks for this semester. I will be back home in June. I should be working on a paper... instead I am working on the second volume of the trilogy. Tell Sam its entitled: Let Us Fight It Out.
From the next room he says Yeah! And says to tell you he just picked up a book about Shiloh that he’s about to read, though he’d much rather be reading your stuff!!
That is so very nice!
That's now my new tag line. U.S. Army Retired |
Good news, he was an idiot!
There is more money elsewhere...
I like Fred, I respect him, but I don’t believe Zogby’s polls. I think we will see the following results in Iowa:
dems
1) Obama
2) Edwards
3) Hillary
4) Richardson
Repubs:
1) Huckabee
2) Romney
3) McCain
4) Thompson
I think Fred will be a strong third, or a statistical 2nd with Huckabee.
If voters want vacuous soundbites there are plenty of choices. And voters seem to be making those choices instead of Fred. It's not working for him. He's barely even in this race anymore because of this sort of thing. Fred is running for the nomination all wrong. Primaries are an audition for the general election. Voters are looking for the candidate who is going to win it for their team in the general. Demonstrating to your party that you can package a powerful, concise message into a soundbite goes a long way to securing their nomination. Demonstrating that you can take the fight to the other side does too. At least showing you have some fight and aren't going to roll over like Bob Dole. This has always been Fred's challenge. Showing he's committed, that he's got the fight in him we're going to need against the Clinton Machine. Showing that he will take his experience to the voters and challenge anyone to best it.
heh - we should start a prediction thread:
Hillary
Edwards
Richardson
Obama
Huckabee
Thompson
Romney
Paul
McCain
SNORT!!! :-)
One thing you can say about Ol’ Harry—he’s consistent!!
(Consistently WRONG, that is, Bwahahahahahahaha!!!)
